if i put a msp ecu in my mp3 and hook the vtcs solenoid up will i pass emissions test...i know the ecu will not throw a cel with the vtcs solenoid hooked up, i am just worried that the emissions test will read the it is not an mp3 and fail me...or give me an emissions report for a msp...which i can not use to get my registration renewed...im in georgia btw, they only use obdII test and feul cap pressure test.

i dont have any personal experiance on the issue put my freind did a turbo conversion on his p5 with the msp ecu and he failed. he had no cels thrown and i dont know if he finally passed or not. i think he applied for the waiver.

If they only do what you said they do then you should be able to pass just fine if no CELs are on or stored. If you keep at least one cat you should be able to still pass emissions tests (unless the tune is that bad). However, if they do visual tests then everything goes up in the air. Some places follow the book strictly so you could fail for any number of reasons. I know in VA you aren't supposed to have those crank case breathers and I have known people to be failed because of those. Where I currently live/work/go to school they don't do emissions testing (but are supposed to visually inspect) and I somehow passed at a Merchant's Tire and I personally know there are about 20 things on my car that would fail me. All that being said, if you still have at least one catalytic converter, no breather filter, no CELs or anything else blatantly illegal you should be just fine. You're not in CA so not having CARB approved parts should not be a problem.

im just worried that the emissions report will come out for a msp, since it is a msp ecu and i think the emissions computer gets that information from the ecu...but i could be wrong...someone know for sure?

Wow someone finally from Va Beach. I am stuck down here with the Coast Guard. Anyways.. If you or anyone down here ever have any problems getting an inspection just message me there is a shop off of Independance Blvd by the hospital that will just walk out the door and give you the sticker. I just got smart and switched to PA to avoid the whole mess.
