What kind of increased performance could be expected for the MP3 if MSP intake and exhaust cams were used?

Intake is exactly the same. The exhaust cam is slightly different, but I don't rmember in what way. I would get the J-Spec intake cam.

the exhaust cam is the same duration adn lift, probably just has a different EVO EVC to reduce the overlap not required on the msp.

so in otherwords, you'll probably loose power NA going to the MSP exhaust cam.

the cams from SRMotorsports.com are mazdamotorsports cams...VERY nice. i had these...much better than the jspec cams

sound like the j-spec cams to me. the mazdaspeed exhaust cam is just a repinned j-spec intake came. i'm pretty sure mazdamotorsports have never made a cam of their own which is why they sell blanks.

interesting...i emailed SR a while back about this, but they never responded...i guess when i get my next set, i'll take some measurements and see how they compare to the jspec cams.

correct, but an increase none the less.
not worth it for spending money getting it though. if your thinkin of replacing your exhaust here are the 2 best options......
1. get a custom midpipe like 2 1/2" or bigger (2.5" is big enough though for N/A) with no cats. You can get it made at any muffler/exhaust shop for under $100. Then just get an axelback exhaust with the same inlet as the midpipe. You will get WAY better gains and spend the same money. Im talkin getting 10-13 HP as apposed to .5-1 hp (if that, which i doubt) getting the msp exhaust. The msp's is so close to the mp3's, but is designed for turbo, not N/A.

2. Get a Mental Addiction Motorsports midpipe (if you wanna keep street legal) with the high flow cat. It cost like ummmmmmmmm..........$250 I think (cant remember right now) and get an exhaust wth same inlet. Wont be as fast as no cats at all (like only a hp or 2 less) but it will be street legal and not nearlly as loud.
