MSP Boost

I'm wondering how much boost my msp can handle. I have a home made waste gate regulator and im running it around 15 pounds of boost with a stock turbo. It has a front mount intercooler, cold air intake, exhaust, and other little things. It's so much better than driving with 5-7 pounds. is it ok for my engine? How long before something will break? What will happen?

I've been running it like this for about a day and my only problem is fuel cuts. Also its not like im driving everywhere I go with 15+ pounds of boost. It's just for short accelerations.

That is a ticking time bomb. The MSP runs safely 5 to 7lbs. If you have not invested in some type of EMS I recommend you back the boost down. Plus If you can invest in a built block. Or you can become a member of the ZOOM ZOOM BOOM cub.

A homemade WGA.. you care to elaborate on that? And to answer your questions..

1. is it ok for my engine?
- No, it's not.. 15 psi is way too much for a mostly stock MSP. Intercooler, intake, and exhaust are great and all, but they won't allow you to run that kinda boost all on their own. You're looking at 10 psi MAX with a piggyback EMS like the SS AFC, but even then you're playing with fire. If this is your daily driver and you need it to stay reliable, turn it back down to the stock 5-7.

2. How long before something will break? What will happen?
- Could be a day, could be a month, could be a year.. it all depends on the car. You'll most likely break a rod, and it will shoot through the block and possibly destroy other things along the way.

The home made WGA is just clamp that when tightened allows less flow, making more boost and when loosened it allows more air through the waste gate hose and gives it less boost

Wow. Just wow. I would buy a short block right now if I were you. And remove whatever homemade MBC setup you have going on there. Stock FSDE rods will not handle 15psi for long but you (and your wallet) will find out soon enough on your own.

The first time I ran put it on it was putting out 28 pounds of boost(!) obviously I loosened that really fast and I've went down to 10 pounds

Do some reading before you touch your car. =[ poor msp.

Seriously though. When my wga started to go abd car spiked 12 psi in winter, fuel cut almost made me s*** my pants lol.

It was awesome for the short time I did it! It would definitely keep up with my buddy's STi! Too bad I can't keep it like that

If that's what your looking for you prob started with the wrong car. You will need aroubd $10k in mods to support that safely. People running even 15-18 psi have fully built notors abd upgraded custom turbo systems.
If all you want is to go fast, just buy an sti from the start heh.
And leave it alone.
