Ok, so I am probably going to be buying a used Mazdaspeed Miata in the not so distant future. Of course, I won't be able to just leave it as is.

I have looked at the XEDE EMS because it will allow a car to pass OBDII inspections and that may be an issue in the future depending on where my job may take me.

However, I see that it will cause the CEL to illuminate on the MSM. I always thought that CELs cause you to fail OBDII inspections. Also, how can you just ignore this when your car may also be trying to tell you something else is wrong? Are there other options that allow you to pass inspection?

I know that MSM peeps on the forum are limited but I figured I would start here. Thanks for the help.

In our state if there is a CEL for anything it results in a failed inspection. Are you going to be running larger injectors?

That is what I do not get. If the idea of the Xede is to be able to pass inspection then why does it throw a CEL on the MSM?

Yup. I plan on having to run at least 440s.

Go to: www.mazda-speed.com. It is a forum just for us MSM owners. :)

LOL! Believe it or not, I have been lurking there for a while. I haven't signed up because I don't have an MSM.....yet. Also, the wife and I have been talking and it may have to wait until next spring.

Still, I haven't found any threads on there about the XEDE and a CEL. I may have to start an account there so I can search.
