Ms6

Hey, I'm new to the board and new to the mazdaspeed programs, im looking into getting a 2007 mazdaspeed 6. I want to mod it to get into the high 12's and have seen that it has been done before with stock turbo and everything, but how is the reliability on the ms6 when it has been lightly modded. I plan on taking it to the track alot and doing alot of launches, so how is the transmission on the ms6. I know i will have tp change the clutch out to get to the high 12's but with the internals be able to handle it. This will also be my dd so i don't want the motor blowing on me if i get it in the 12's and race a few times.

Welcome to the club ...

Basically, in a nutshell:

A high 12-second daily driver is possibe - Here is what you need:
Full turbo-back exhaust
Intake
Intercooler upgrade
Manual Boost Controller with an ATP Boost Cut Defender set to about 18 PSI
- OR - CP-e engine management system set at 18 PSI
Add that to a 4500 RPM launch (slipping the clutch of course) should net you a high 12 ... But be warned that the rear diff will prob break.

I suggest adding to the above:
Upgraded motor mount
Upgraded rear diff mount

Stock clutch sucks at those power levels - Need to upgrade.
Reliability at those levels: Good for a DD - but with multiple track days, reliability will prob be limited.

Good luck
