MS6 possible sighting

In the April issue of Car and Driver they have a picture of the Japanese Mazdaspeed 6 A-spec. Its a wagon, no FMIC. Japan gets it early 2005 so I doubt we would also. The article also says Mazda has no plans to bring it to the US at this time.

US and Canada get the V6 only so releasing a 4cyl stock for stock that coud outrun it's V6 counterpart wouldn't go well either...remember in US bigger always means better!!! (shrug)

well it also wouldnt make to much sense to make a V6 turbo just for the NA market since people are saying these will be built in japan and the 4cylinder is a world engine.

The MSP was released like that as well. The dealers are only going to get a couple each, which should sell instantly. Its not like the dealers need any special planning for this car, they each get 2.

The mazdaspeed miata was annouced with the dealerlisting. The dealers were told of its existence with the release of the 2004 year changes. There is no listing for the mazdaspeed 6. Neither normal dealers, mazdaspeed dealers, or even the "special" designation dealers are aware of it.

There is no listing for the Mazdaspeed 6. Its not coming out, it won't be available. It it does come out, I will stand utterly baffled and confused, and post a public apology to you in its own seperate thread.

But thats not going to happen. Its not going to come out, your going to blame your sources and their sources misinformation, and everything will go back to normal until the end of 2005, when the same thing happens AGAIN.

Then of course If I'm wrong. I'll post a public apology, and run out and buy one instantly .

Well.....they continue to speculate because your information is false. The Mazdaspeed 6 is a done deal. Its goes into production in November. This is NOT speculation, this is confirmed information. I have seen the official documentation. The North American specs are as follows:

274 HP
AWD
6 speed manual
18" wheels

I cannot reveal my sources because they could get in huge trouble for sharing this info with me. There will be a public announcement about mid September.

Mazda's not going to even consider selling any sort of "souped up" Mazda3 or Mazda 6, for quite some time. Its just horrible business sense to do that. Why release another version of a product thats already selling extremely well. Especially one that would directly compete against the rx8 in performance, thus hurting its sales.

I don't agree with you. Subaru brought over the WRX....two years later we have the WRX STI, Mitsubishi brought over the Evolution VIII and now the Evolution VIII MR is comming, there are a few more examples too..the VW R32 (Golf), we will also soon see the Audi A3 5door and an S3 following shortly there after... I think that it would be good for Mazda to flesh out the Mazdaspeed line ASAP....

I think I have to agree with Crossbow, I can imagine that MAYBE a few years down the road they might make one, but like Crossbow said, why try and compete against Mazdas new flagship? Sadly enough the 6 is faster than the RX-8 out of the box, why go and rub it in?

Remember that the 8 only weighs 3048 lbs (or something like that). It runs low 14's in the 1/4's stock. Best 6s MTX time has been 14.8 in the 1/4 stock.

I am up in CO so I'm sure thats making a big difference. Up here, the 8 runs roughly 16.4, the 6 runs 16.1, trust me, I pissed off the guy driving the 8. We must have run 5-6 times before he accepted defeat.
