MS6: anyone tried 215/50R17's?

Has anyone gone down from 18" to 17" wheels? I've gone thru my 2nd set of 20,000 mile tires (oem Bridgestones and Pirelli pzero's) and am looking to go with 215/50/17's that are available with a rated tread wear.

I'm considering Kuhmo Ecsta LX Platimum (60K) or Goodyear Assurance Tripletred (80K). Has anyone tried these or have any other longer life tire recommendations?

Thanks

For an MS6? I wouldn't touch those tires for a car of that performance level. If performance really isn't an issue for you, well then, you shouldn't be driving a MazdaSPEED6. If you need all season useability then do something UHP A/S like Continental Contiextremecontact DWS. Assurance tires are in a lower performance class than most OEM tires manufacturers put on their cars. Passenger all seasons FTL. They are better suited to minivans and old people's Camrys. With those tires you will loose steering feel and a ton of grip. Oh, and 215/60/17 is way to big for the wheel well. You'd need something along the lines of 215/50or55/17 or better yet 235/45/17 or 225/50/17. You catch my drift. A 60 series sidewall is ginormous.

To answer your question, yes I have, but only for my winter wheel/tyre combo. This is for my European Mazda 6 MPS. Better with the rough roads, but at the loss of cornering performance, however with all the ice and snow we have I can live with that.
