MS3's Being Delivered?

Per a post on another MZ3 board, someone in FL is apparently taking delivery of their Mazdaspeed3 this weekend.

Can anyone who's put a deposit down confirm whether or not they've been given a delivery date?

I'm dying here...

I'm not aware of any being delivered yet, but as I reported in another thread they arrived at port in Canada last Friday. There should be some in customers hands by next week. So it is possible that this person is telling the truth.

I happened to speak to my salesman today, and he didn't have any info about shipments - but he did say that his system isn't the "end-all, be-all", so anything is possible.

Well I'm obviously not the only one who feels like a kid staring at his presents a week before Christmas.
I'm trying not to search out too much info on it and just be happy when the car gets here. Any new piece of info gets me more impatient.

impatient is an understatement.... my old car is gone so until the new one comes in I will be driving a '91 toyata tercel (til sat), 95 PURPLE Nissan 200sx (til sept 20th), and an 06 Mazda3i (til whenever the car comes in)

Lol, thank goodness I have my P5 still.

I just read another board...

A guy got an email response directly from Mazda that said his MS3, produced on 8/22/06, has arrived at the port in Tacoma, WA and is expected to be delivered to his dealership in IL by the 2nd week in October.

Why in the hell does it take 5 weeks to ship a car across the country? That seems crazy to me.

you guys have no patience. I'mmma wait for the 08 models, once invoice and 3k rebates are started I'll pick one up for 16k. Kinda inevitable since the all new WRX and Lancer Rallyart turbo awd will be about 25k.

Oh, is that what you're going to do? $16k? That's a great price!

I ask you... how many regular 3's are being sold at invoice w/ $3k in rebates? I would imagine not many considering most dealers can't keep inventory on the lots.

Personally, I can't see the MS3 selling as poorly as the MS6. Limiting the production to 5,000/year will amost ensure there won't be a bunch of them sitting around.

So, if your plan works, then more power to you. But just because we're excited and "impatient" doesn't mean you have to s*** on our parade.

Every single one of the Mazdaspeed cars sold for invoice + 3k invoice even the highly accaimed Speed miata. What make you think that this is gonna sell so well?

First, I'll address other Mazdaspeed cars:

1. The Miata is a roadster. The market is much smaller for a roadster than it is for a 4- or 5-door.
2. The MS6 suffered from an identity crisis. It wanted to appeal to the younger crowd, but at $30k, it didn't really jive with that crowd's wallet.

Now, why the MS3 will sell:

1. As a 5-door compact, it is more attractive to the masses (particularly people in my demographic) than a 2-door roadster or 4-door family sedan
2. The MZ3 has received great reviews, which will help when marketing the MS3
3. They are going to market the MS3
4. $22,835.
5. Every review/preview of the MS3 published so far has been a ringing endorsement for the car.
6. They are only making 5,000 - this creates a limited market, with no guarantee that there will be a 08 model.

I hope I answered your question, since with your poor grammar and punctuation, it was hard to tell exactly what you were saying/asking.

The other problem with the speed6 was that it was released about 8 months after they said it'd be out... I had a list of 15 people ready to buy when the car was originally promised. When it finally hit our showrooms, the list dwindled to 0. I don't think the 'speed3 will have that problem and compared to its competition, it's priced right and has power to spare. The only two negatives are FWD and 5-door only, but I don't think it'll hurt much since there'll only be 5000 units. 4999 after I can get E-plan. :-p

Excellent points. I think the MS3 will sell very well. But lets keep it civil.

Yeh and all new WRX and Lancer turbo will cost about the same with established names in performance. Lets not forget awd. Also there is the new SRT4 which is already a proven platiform. Competition is good. You can pay more then sticker or whatever now, If you have to justify your purchase. BTW, Ms6 is way more of a complete car then a speed3 is and you can buy it now for less then a speed3.

I'm sure all of these cars will be nice (well except the srt-4 --- caliber=eeew), but hey we've made our choice. Id rather be driving the ms3 for a year than sitting around waiting for the price to drop, and lets face it, NO ONE can be sure what the price/availablilty will be in the future before the car is even out yet. And in what ways would you say the ms6 is a more complete car? I think they are fairly comparable even though theyre not even meant to be in the same class....

^^^What he said.

I want to wait a little while because no matter what happens I am sure you will at least be able to negotiate a price on the speed 3 come february when no one wants a car with summer tires. I feel like I am getting screwed if I pay msrp. I doubt there will be incentives, but you never know, I am just looking for 500-1000 less than msrp.

I hear where you're coming from. It really boils down to how an individual feels. For me, $500-1,000 isn't a deal breaker. I would rather have the car now then be SOL if I couldn't find one in the winter/spring.

Jesus, if my salesman was reading this he'd be licking his chops.
