MS3 vs. 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT-4

Don't laugh too hard, they could very well blow you into the weeds! Mopar Stage kits are nothing to mess with. Dial-a-boost, intercooler sprayer, I think they will be at 350 whp faster than you can blink!
yea but that comes along with alot of other upgrades too...we can get 350whp out of these cars easy..but we are looking for reliable speed not speed for 10 minutes then boom.....and yes i was talking about that the r/t is the top of the line caliber...has nothing to do with the srt-4 version

I hope you're not implying that SRTs are prone to detonation because its well known that the neon motor could hold big boost stock while the MSP detonated if you looked at it wrong and the MS3 is already having engines fall out of it.

Not saying that I don't love mazdas or that the caliber won't be crap but lets not be quick to rush to judgement here.

im not i jsut assume that with alot of power comes alot of change needed to be "reliable" yea srt-4's are fast and i never under estimate anything..u never know whats under the hood...these cars are going to be fast of course and its just going to be exciting when i eventually race one. mazda is only company with disi and the high pressure fuel injection right?

Bla bla bla. For the most part are all Dodge vehicles in the Ugly class? Definitely! Will the bottom line $20K SRT-4 Caliber have an interior made from a recycled coaster? They all will. The AWD Caliber they currently offer has an odd interior and if you ever compared a Neon SXT with a Neon SRT-4 you will notice, ITS THE SAME INTERIOR minus the sport seats etc. Be careful with being a nay sayer because I owned an SRT-4. It was fast as hell, but the interior bugged me along with the loud interior noise and rattling. Now, will the SRT-4 Caliber be fast? Giving credit based on the last SRT-4 model, absolutely. Additionally, a few items too note are, 20 less ft/lbs of torque than our MS3' and only 17 more HP. Well considering we can easily obtain the HP difference with a CAI, which not to mention gives you more torque as well, it should be very interesting. Also note the article states it has "electronically-tuned brake lock differential that controls throttle, spark advance, and boost" which tells me they are more than likely going to face the same initial upgrade issues we are currently facing, along with gear specific boost/throttle cut etc. Again the same issues we are hoping most of these piggy-back or soon to be released computer upgrades will eliminate for us.

It will be nice to see, but what I think you can expect is about the same performance as the last SRT-4. Lastly, so far I have one up on the SRT-4 Caliber, because in my opinion, my MS3 is certainly better looking.

Man... you all got me, thats a good point on how the caliber is better... oh wait a minute, thats right, you just resorted to insults instead because you don't have anything better to say about the car. anyways, I stand behind what I have said, a fast car isn't neccassarily a good car!

you compared it to a drag racing outhouse....how are we supposed to come up with any insightful contradiction to that?? granted it was quite a colorful and somewhat entertaining analogy, however it was based on what research?? You made yourself sound like, well, an ignoramous. Personally from what i read it sounds like dodge did a good job with it. Getrag tranny, bigger brakes(one big thing that bothers me about the srt-4), beefed up suspension. Sounds good so far to me! so why is it bad to you again? because its not a mazda??

Weren't the mopar stage add ons for the neon reflashing the ECU for the addition of the performance parts? Dodge isn't shy about selling that kinda stuff with their upgrades. I'm sure their tuning will be a none issue for those following the MOPAR upgrade path.

I'm still jealous of the Dial-a-Boost and Intercooler Sprayer buttons.

Not all they need is a Lower Suspension and De-Truckify button and I would SOOOOOOOO get one of these!

Because he thinks it looks like s***. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. We don't need facts to back up what we think of a vehicle. And if a mazda looked like that I would say the same thing about it.

thats the only thing im jeaouls about dodge...the variety of performance upgrades available by the dealer..which are warrantied right?

Isn't Mazdaspeed a similar concept?

yeah, but to a lesser extent. You know who has the number one dealer oriented aftermarket ? Scion.

Just to let everyone know, the caliber is built on the same chassis as the new lancer so I think it may handle very well. Even if dodge screws up the suspension, the frame is still very rigid and has potential. It needs to be dropped bad though!

I still can't get over the mini Durango look. >_< I think I'll keep my MS3.
