MS3 Specs and Prices

Road and Track didn't do a full test, just a quick, small write-up near the front. I already wrote in to complain...

Yeah, as 35 yr subscriber I was a little disappointed about that too, but I'm sure they have their reasons. Perhaps they will do the best in-depth when the time comes? Maybe a long term test???
I'll be sure to write them too... stir 'em up. Get 'em goin' in the "RIGHT" direction. :)

I wont put the whole arcticle here, but here are the key points...$22,240 for the base model, $24k for the GT (leather, bose, xenon, rain sensing wipers) and navigation is an expensive option.

0-60 is now officially claimed by mazda to be LESS THAN 6 SECONDS. Which when a factory claim is made like that it's a very good thing to here.

155 mph limited top speed, wind tunnel tested aero modifications, etc.

263 hp at 5500 rpm and 280tq at 3000rpm 6700 redline. tq timited in first and second gear.

They close the arcticle saying the new SI and GTI are not close to the same catagory/league should not be used in the same sentence, it's not even close to compair. The MS3 is that good. They got to do hot laps around Laguna Seca for the whole day and they were that impressed. The said the car is a track terror! with monster power. It all sounds too good to be true.

Mazda was also testing factory accesory coilovers! and Im sure they will have a factory CAI and other goodies for enthusiasts too.

There will be only 5000 shipped here anually, get in line.

Good post and very informative. I read, in one of my many automotive magazines, that the Speed3 is capable of a top speed close to 165MPH.
I don't know if it was a fluke or whether the car tested had a tailwind or what, but I'm just giving you the facts of what I read.

Has anybody had the ballz to take the car to top speed, and if so, was it more than 155MPH? I'd be curious to find out.

BTW, the navigation option price was listed as $1,740 for the MS3.

price on ms3

I bought mine on tuesday paid 20,989 for it Maybe because I work for a mazda dealership but so far the car is nice. I owned the 03 mazdaspeed protege orange in color Loved it. Sold it for 15,000 last summer bought a Infiniti g35 2006 Loved it and now my wifeand I are having a baby this year so back to 4 doors. But all is good with the new mazdaspeed 3 I like it so far.

I'm actually a sales consultant @ Grappone Mazda, in Concord, NH and we have a Speed3 GT, Black, list price is a little over 24K. I also just bought a Mazda 3 four door and want to make some body modifications, does anyone know if the Mazda emblem on the back of the car is just glued on or does it have the prongs?

You're right on both counts, at least as far as my '04 is concerned.
When I did my badges, the rear winged emblem was/is pinned in the middle, but "taped" on the top and bottom to help it bend to the line on the hatch.
The "Mazda" emblem is done the same way, but the "3" is simply taped on.
I found that an interior trim tool (see pic below) and a rag was the best, safest way to remove them.

As you can see, I simply removed the 3 and added the Axela badge to the other side... as it would be in Japan.
You mean no one @ your dealership could answer this question?

Every dealer in CT is sticking with sticker... except for one. They gave me $1000 off sticker just like that so... if and when I'm ready to buy one, I might push for an even lower price. They're barely making any money on them (at that price) so we'll see. The real question is... whether or not any rebates will come out for the car. Also, does anyone know if Mazda is going to make these in '08?

Hi there!

New to the forums, my first posting here... (yippy)

Walked into a dealer today in northern VA, they said they had only one MS3 available on the lot. I noticed a another partially hidden MS3 on the lot which I pointed out, which the sales guys admitted to have as well. During our conversation I said that the I'd been tracking the inventory for several dealers around VA/DC area and the MS3's had not been moving of the lots too fast....he later admitted that they had a total of five MS3....nice!

First price they offered was MSRP, but I said my purchasing timeframe was withing next 3 months. They offered to reduce the price by $500 off MSRP if I bought today though, so it seems the price is slowly creeping lower than MSRP.

Also, he confirmed that the 08-model of MS3 was around the corner, more exactly "sometime in june" he said. There seems to be quite many MS3 available (at least via inventory check on internet) in VA/DC/MD area, anyone thinking there will be any rebates/incentives if the 08 arrived in june?

Also, I started tracking inventory levels for some dealers in this area, just want to confirm the sales people sales pitch when they say that MS3's are "flying of the lot". Don't get me wrong, I really love the car, I'm going to get a MS3, but just for a nicer price below MSRP (yes)

thanks,
plexi

all i could get was 500 below msrp.

on another forum.. someone claimed they got an ms3 gt for the sport msrp... not sure at this point as some dealers in my area wont even talk to me if i suggest anything below msrp..

I'm in So. Cal., so prices may be more than elsewhere. My local dealer had a $5k markup, and the next closest had a $3k markup. Found another dealer that advertised MSRP, and was able to get $500 off MSRP for the GT with no other options.

In northern VA I paid $400 over invoice after shopping a couple dealers against each other. They all tried the "hot sales line" and "only sell for MSRP" but I watched 5 cars sit on their lot for about a month and knew they weren't moving that fast!

im currently hunting for an ms3 and the best deal ive gotten was actually on the first try at 500 bux over cost on a gt. he said there really wasnt much discount he could do on the sport. do you guys think thats the best im going to get?

I'm in the market for either a MS3 or a WRX wagon. I'll go do a test drive on both, back to back, maybe as early as this Thursday.

The dealers here in Massachusetts seem to have plenty of MS3s in stock, so I'm confident I'll get a good deal. Should be significantly less than a WRX. I'll use the www.fightingchance.com "Fax-Attack" method to get the dealers bidding against each other. If the '08s are only a month away, this should work very well.

I have plenty more reading to do here, but this looks like a nice forum.
