MS3 rotors and pads for track use

I'm considering buying a set of rotors and pads exclusively for track use, so along with changing out wheels I will change out pads and rotors and keep them as a set just for track use. Of course I could do this with stock rotors and that would probably be Okay. However, maybe I should get some advise first. I'm considering Hawk pads.

Ant tips, guidance, advise?

Thanks

I think it would be a great idea to get separate rotors and brake pads for your track set-up. Most people don't realize that racing compound brake pads actually transfer some of the material to the rotor face in the burnishing phase. When you transfer back and forth between compounds it takes a session or two for that material to build up again and allow the pads to work to their full extent.

It will be a bit of work each time you change back and forth but if you are up to the task you will be rewarded.

We use Hawk pads on the racecar and have done so for nearly 10 years! I think you know how I feel about them.....

For the rotors, I would go with just basic OE rotors. Don't bother with slotted or crossdrilled rotors. The slots just eat up your pads faster and the crossdrilled rotors crack faster because they weren't meant to be drilled. Yes, crossdrilling does help. However, the rotors have to be designed for it in the first place so that they are not weakened by the crossdrilling. The rotors you buy crossdrilled are no more than OE rotors that have been run through a drill press. Don't waste your money.

Have fun at the track!!
