MS3 Owners: Show us your wheels

I am deadset. I just lovvvvvvvvvvve the tread pattern and I've read a lot of great reviews on them. Solid tire for the money! :D

i'm just worried about the life of the tires. i don't put a lot of miles on my car, anyway though... i've had it 3 years and it has 20k. now i'm in the same boat you were in. i've driven on the hankooks and they're really nice and i'm betting they have a longer tread life... hmm...

i'm trying to figure out why the **** the bridgestones are so expensive. they were OK in the dry, OK in the wet, not very comfortable and only lasted 20k? really? (moon)

haha...it's all about how you take care of your car and how you drive it!

BTW, I just ordered the falken's a few moments ago :D $560 shipped with $80 mail in rebate...$480 FTW :) I will let you know how I like them...my buddy had them on his cobalt ss s/c and he lovvved them. They rode very nice and made the car feel planted.

Azenis is a great tire, but there are definitely better tires out there in that class nowadays (Kumho XS, Hankook R-S3, Nitto NT-05, Dunlop Star Specs, to name a few)...

That being said, for what you paid I think you got a great deal. Not quite as good as the $415 shipped I paid for the closeout 235/40R18 Hankook R-S2s I have waiting to go on, but a good deal nonetheless.

My only real gripes with the RT-615 are the tread noise and wet traction (especially when "well-worn"), but for the price they're going for these days those are probably decent trade-offs.

where'd you get the rs-2???

TireRack had them on closeout last fall (as they're being replaced by the new R-S3)...I bought them in December. Pretty sure they're all gone by now...

What do you guys think bout the Yokohama S-Drive or the Falken 452 on the MS3?? Good? Ok? Bad?

Cuz I would really like to get the Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec but there almost $200 more that these other two...I know I would get much more grip from the Dunlop's but the tread is much less also..and since I go to Phoenix at least once every month, I dont know if the Dunlop's would be a good choice..

I like the S-Drive. They've lasted me a bit longer than the stock tires. I got maybe 25k out of them. It would have been better if I were a more cautious driver. :D Grip is good, but I also went to a 235.

^^^I can go to a 235/40 on the stock wheels?? I wouldnt rub? Im on H&R springs...because ive also heard and read from here that some guys have gone to a 225/45 tire and the car feels super slow...

Very true. I removed my 235/40/18 nexen n3000's from my rota's when I sent them to the powdercoater, and I had them mounted on my stock ms3 wheels...lord they are squirmy as hell. Good thing I am only keeping them for bad weather days.

Haven't seen these on a 3 yet, just a 6. So I figured it's about time I posted 'em up. They're Ti RM 18x8 +35, wrapped up in Falken Ze-912 235/40/18.

Ok so I made some calls and I got quoted $440 out the door for the Yokohama S-Drives and $510 (with the rebate Dunlop is giving out) for the Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec...both with the 225/40/18 size..
Now I go out of town alot and just want to make the right choice here...I would step up and get the Dunlop's cuz i like the tires to stick to the pavement but I dont want to buy tires and have to get new ones in like 10,000 miles...I drive hard but not really too often

um if you are getting Star Spec's for $510, you better jump on them..the cheapest I have seen them is upper 600's to low 700's. There should be NO question!

Yea I think im gonna jump on the Star spec's...they are really cheap and I dont really care if they last me 10,000-15,000 miles anymore...I WANT THOSE TIRES!!!!
Thanks..

I'm running RX8s. I rub very rarely, but I do rub.

That's probably the extra weight of the RX-8 wheel (24-25lbs. ea,) as well as a slightly taller than OE tire.
