ms3 FMI= play with the A/F??

Good plan.:(

way oversized FMIC, chopped-up tin, jack-leg piping kit, blow-through MAF conversion on a MAF/ECM expecting draw-through, unknown tune. I'm pretty easy on people around here but, keeripes, there's so many ways this is going to struggle to work.

Agreed. For one thing, with 2.5" piping on either side of the FMIC, you have no scavenging effect. For another thing, if you're not big turbo, you have absolutely NO need whatsever for piping that large. 2" hot side, 2.25" cold side, max. That create scavenging and prevents additional unnecessary lag. Big FMIC? another no-no for non-big turbo. All it does is look good and add lag.

I'm just curious, but what makes people with no engineering knowledge so confident that they can reinvent the wheel on something so technically advanced and come out ahead of the game, not screwing anything up?

At the same time, we must thank that serious of movies for the popularity exploding and opening up more options for car modding. Before FnF, the skittle would've never come out, nor the cobalt SS, or MS3. Hell, they wouldn't have brought over the WRX or STi, or the Evo, if they didn't see all of us modding in response to FnF. But, it sure has dialed back a bit.

thanks for all the respones...

first thing, yes the fmic is more just for look than performance or hp gain...

second, me and my brother, who mods all are turbos, supercharged cars, etc...are not no engineering knowledge people. he has been doing this for years (not in a known tune shop, just for side money) and never had problems with any cars...maybe sometimes we don't have all the specifications about some cars, that i can say, but we can go with the knowledge of turbo cars...

not trying to tell you that you guys don't know anything, just to let you know that we can understand some stuff about modding...

I've built 2 custom turbo kits for my own personal cars, a 3rd I never installed, and built a turbo 350z. But even I'll admit I won't try reinventing the wheel, and you certainly won't find me throwing a big FMIC on my car for looks. That kind of attention brings races (and insults) from other cars who assume you're faster than you are.........( and could bring a bad rep to the community with you driving around making 260-270whp and a big FMIC, people thinking you have a big turbo and smoking you)
