in SRI mode. the sucking sound is much quieter than CAI due to less piping for the air to rush through. throttle response seems to be much more crisp and the BOv sound is more pronounced. in CAI mode, the air being shot back into the intake(recirc.) kinda over powers the BOV sound since its not as crisp as in SRI mode. the recirc.ed air being shot back into CAI is a bit longer and drawn out.
performance wise. as i have said in another thread, i did highway rolls in CAI and SRI mode against my boy in his MS3 with the CP-E Nano and Turbosmart BOV(i have a Greddy Type S so we are equally modded...)
myself running in CAI mode and him in SRI. up until about 110-115, our cars were dead the whole way but after that i would began to pull on him on the top end...EVERYTIME. we did atleast 6 runs.
when i switched SRI mode, him still in SRI. we were dead even the whole way, even in the top end. we did 6 runs this time as well.
so on the top end in SRI mode you will lose some power. but the benefits in why i have kept mine in SRI mode is because you can hear your turbo spool if your BOV/BPV is tweaked right...the Turbo has that high pitch sream/whistle/shrill sound versus CAI, its all intake sucking sounds.
SRI has crisper throttle response and your bov/bpv sounds better(louder)
but ill be switching back to CAI mode today and leaving it for another few months. i go back and forth between the two every few months
