Mrlilguy CDFP Review

understandable...but what im saying is...is it feasible to pay for this when the AP/other thing gets u the same performance (redline pulls) without a $550 pump...not bad mouthing the product at all...i actually think its a great find/invention...just trying to work out the dollars and cents like any smart business man.

Totally understand. I think it would be good to have them together, as I think the lack of fuel available is more to do with the fuel pump design itself than the ECU. But I want to see Cobb AP on the same car both with and without the CDFP.

How long does it take to get it back? Who is responsible for shipping? How long is the warrantee/guarantee? Please explain the complete process from beginning to end, including fees/costs, so that we possible buyers can be more informed. Thanks, looks to be a great upgrade!

if you send your pump in, express mail is used to send it back. from oklahoma to florida that is typically overnight. warranty is lifetime. if you purchase a new pump outright you would send your old pump back in for a core credit once the new pump is installed and we recieve the old one. we are the reseller of the pump and mrlilguy is the person assembling them. we are no longer using components from Autotech due to failures on first run Mazda pumps and similar complaints from VW customers who have used thier parts. these are a few reasons why the prices have changed.

Sounds pretty good...especially the lifetime warranty....BUT...what is this about then??

No. We guarantee that every pump sent out has been proven to work and run properly, before it leaves our hands. You’ll see the videos posted up in the Video section of the site proving this, thus, if a pump seizes as soon as you put it on your car, I cannot warranty it. I guarantee all pumps are in working condition before they are sent out. Others have tried and failed, but I, being the founder of the solution for the DISI pumps, am very familiar with the caution and attentiveness that these particular pumps require. Have no doubt that you will receive a working upgraded cam driven fuel pump, and video with your name on it.

Sounds like you and mrlilguy are on two different pages? Please advise...thanks Ken

sorry guys for me just now getting to this thread.

it is a lifetime warranty. I will clarify that on the website this evening. If it ever fails, then it is covered and I will overnight you a new pump the day you notify me that you have a failed pump, if they're on hand (should always be, i've got a good sized inventory with me now).

Piasani's reflash for stage 2 and higher is being engineered around the pump that I offer. I'm working directly with Performance Racing and furthermore to Piasani to do so. The standback is able to tune for higherpressures demanded in the fuel system so it is and can tune the fuel pump directly.

As stated, you've got three (or four if you're lucky) options for the pump upgrade.

1) Mail your pump from your car in, I build it, and mail it back. once it gets to me it will be 2 days until it gets to you. If you're in a rush, overnight it to me, if you're not, 3day it here. Either way, I overnight it back to you.

2) Core exchange: I mail you an upgraded pump core, you perform the install by removing and replacing your stock CDFP, and then you mail me your stock CDFP in a rather timely manner. Very simple. Youre increased charge ($350 on top of the $549) will be reimbursed upon receipt of a working, usable condition Hitachi cam driven fuel pump.

3) A new fuel pump outright: You purchase a 2nd CDFP from me, which is built and guaranteed to work upon receipt to you. That is $899 as shown on ProtegeGarage and Ken's site.

4) If you're lucky, a local swap can be done by me. I'm all over major areas of Texas through the year, mainly in the north DFW area. I'm also all over Oklahoma quite often (OKC, Stillwater, and Tulsa). Summer time is traveling for me. I'll be in las vegas in July, and plan on road tripping north then back down the east coast in the late summer as well.

Other arrangements *may* be possible, but for the moment, these are the options available. Parts are in hand and waiting to be sold and tested. Ken and PG are taking orders now!

Thank you sir :)

no problem, anytime! My email address is in your PM box and on the site. Contact me there if any questions present themselves. I'll be away from the computer most of the evening.

thanks guys, and thank you Robert for the thread. It means alot. I'm glad you're happy.

An upgraded cam driven fuel pump is going to be needed for any guys with an intake, downpipe, and upped boost or a new intercooler. end of story. Its not an optional mod. Its required if you want to be able to push your pedal to floor. :D

Fuel cut and boost cut are two different things. There is no fix for fuel cut, no hack, no clamp, nothing, other than an upgraded cam driven fuel pump.

LOL. sorry I couldn't forewarn you. truth be told, the solution is now available in mass quantities, now, it never was until now. Its all part of learning the cars.

Everyone needs to buy more mods, hit fuel cut, and then send me a PM.... now! (yippy) hahaha

HAHA good one :P
Quick question Jon, I'm experiencing some sputter (waiting to get the one step colder plug) but I dont think I've ever hit fuel cut. Do you think I'll hit fuel cut once I take care of the sputtering?

mods: dp, tp, intake, mbc around 17/18

have been in contact with jon myself... great guy who's willing to answer questions and help out where needed. i'll be ordering one of these eventually, hopefully sooner than later.
