MPT (Miles Per Tank)

damn... i gotta get some mods, cause i get n e where from 280-310 on a tank... but i do drive like a mad man (hardly ever under 80) and plus traffic sux in San Diego in the afternoons

I never let the tank get below 1/4. I have this fear of getting stuck on the side of the highway. I gas up twice a week. Sundays and wednesdays, sometimes I'll gas up on friday if there is some driving to do on the weekend, but for the most part, I keep my weekly gas budget at or below $40. But with the current spike in gas prices, I'm finding that it's now costing $50+.

oh and I'm usually at 214-250 when I reach the 1/4 mark.

My light usually comes on at about 325. I also have 205/45/16 tires which if I remember correctly gives worse milage. With my winter tires, 205/50/16 I get about 280 when the light comes on. I think that has more to do with wasted fuel from warming up the car for a while before driving.

Just curious, what do the tires have to do with fuel economy?

underinflated tires are harder to turn, thus increasing fuel consuption.
Heavy rims also, harder to turn, thus increasing fuel consuption.

Also, larger tires reduce rpm levels at cruising speeds, thus saving gas.

miles per tank

i just got over 500 miles for the first time. just over 37 mpg. i have a 2003 5 speed, drive for economy( skip shifts, low revs, much time on cruise, coasting when possible safely) and have changed to 185/65 15 tires for lower rolling resistance due to their being narrower and having a smaller contact patch.i keep the tire pressures up near 40 lbs.[the 185/65 15's are the closest to replicating the stock tires circumfrence so the speedo is off by less than one per cent.

damn... I did this for the frist time about a week ago and got about 250-260 and I even have a 1.6L. i just converted back to short ram from the CAI, and I seem to have a little better. we'll see what happens next time I fill up.

I just did 340 on a full tank of 92 octane. About 95% highway miles going at an average speed of 80-85mph. I get around 270-290 with 50% city/hgwy driving. I used to do over 400 but since I have added fuel with the MPI tuner, the car runs like my mazda tribute V6.

The most was 415 mile until the light went off. 80 mile comute. 95% freeway. Shift at 3000 rpm and never over 70 mph. When driving normally, it's usually around 360 MPT.

i always get 87 octane (93 is too expensive right now) and i average around 340-350 mpt but i'm not the most restricted driver... i believe the mot i've ever gotten was around 400 and that was going back to school (~320 mi, and i had about 80 mi before that) averaging 70-75 mph

uhh... you don't need 93 octane in a stock p5...

I get higher octane because the engines sounds and runs smoother. A lot of ticking when I use regular.

I have been getting 40 miles to a gallon of gas. I could not believe it but I did it. Since gas prices start going up, I have been driving below 60mph, very little almost none acceleration and I got 481miles from 11.9 gallon of 87octaneof gas (90%highway). Acceleration is the key followed by speed.

I rather slow down and drive like a grandma than give the money to the terrorists.

just got 440 on the last tank. Usually fill up around 380-400 or so. Car gets 32-34 with an occasional 37 mpg...

My best is 650 km (404.45 miles)... normal between 450 - 550 km / tank... (217 - 341 miles)

Don't know how all of you are getting such good gas milage, but damn!
