MPS6 Tuning

Mazda 6 MPS
Hi guys, I have booked my car in for a remap/dyno session with a company called Sanspeed here in the UK. They say they can add upto 55hp and 90nm torque on a stock car..... also speed limiter and rev limit can be changed.

I am not "in the know" about the ins and outs of ECU remapping and the guy at Sanspeed says that they can taylor the map to my requirements! Do I just trust them to do their own thing or are there obvious things I should ask for.... rev limit increased? certain boost level? should all the torque/hp be distributed evenly across the rev range?

Im just nervous I guess......just need a small guide of what is good for my car in terms of a remap!!

Mods on my MPS6 are ETS 2.5 intercooler, PG TIP, Test Pipe, Denso ITV22's, AEM CAI, Turbosmart BOV.

Thanks for your help all.

It sounds like they're just going to use a plug n play device like a Standback or Cobb AP.

+1
sounds like using the ap after some dyno pulls. make sure youre not paying for something that you dont get to take home after everything is said and done... ex cobb ap

They would not tell me what they would do the remap with..... no campany in the UK I have asked will!! Does the Cobb AP work with my Mazda 6 MPS - I only thought they were compatiable with cars in the States?

I think that due to these tuning companies in the Uk only just now being able to do something with the ECU, makes them all secretive about it as they dont want everybody else to find out. The Sanspeed garage Im going to have been well established for over 20 years and have a good reputation - They do EcuTek tuning for Evo's and Subaru's.

...besides that 55hp and 90Nm on a stock MPS with nothing then a reflash is BS! ;) If they do they push the limit way too far...

It may not be BS....... dont forget that over here in the UK, the MPS 6 has only 258hp and 280Nm as standard. Another company in the UK (responsechips.com) say they can take a UK stock motor to 320hp and add upto 100Nm!! (hp not at the wheels!)

Well, I know it is, because we do flash tuning ourselves... the MPS' turbo is way to small to make these peak numbers without supporting modifications. It woul be running way out of it's efficiency range. If they are talking about a maximum gain (which will usually be seen around 4400 rpm) the figures come closer to reality. On the second figures I won't even comment...

BTW, many "chip" sites list cars they never have done or don't even have the hardware to do with bogus numbers. Be careful who you bring your money too.

just means u have to keep going back to them and paying everytime u need something done

there is a flash called the pisani or something like that. it was used a lot in europe. and you can't flash with cp-e unless you send them your ecu.

oh yea the pisani, i remember seeing something about that like last year. no one could get any answers from the manufacturer or something tho.
