Mpi, the best? (best tuneing ecu

Purhaps the MPI tuner is the best option for this, I dunno? Im talking about serious tuneing, going to the dyno and tuneing the hell out of the msp. This car is about to drive me to the point of selling it. Yeah that rights selling. It needs to be tuned so badly I cant stand to drive it anymore. So my question b4 I buy is the MPI the best ecu piggy that will let you get down and dirty for some tuneing action?

sorry for the venting but the car is insanely rich and chocks on its own fuel, That is driveing me insane and the way the car bogs while chocking is a bit dangerious.

oh how I wish there was an xede for this car :( anyways I thought I would vent, and ask what everyone think's the best tuneing ecu piggy out there is.
 
I prefer the Haltech. they make a fuel control that is $1K from protegegarge.com hiboost uses it in their kits and everyone loves it

the mpi's have a lot of problems. just look at all of the threads "mpi help" "problems with mpi" "mi wiring" etc..

just my pennies

dude, do you own EITHER!?

thats what i thought.
i've seen BOTH in action.
Most of peoples "issues" with the MPI are that they wire it incorrectly.

big deal if hiboost uses it? it MUST be good then?
MAM uses MPI

just because a company includes a unit in their kit doesnt mean it is bad or good.

no, what I said STILL applies. There are no less than 10 different threads from MPI owners who have all sorts of problems with them. NONE from the haltech. NO problems mentioned from the Hiboost kits....NONE.

just because you're stuck up MAM's ass doesn't mean he's perfect. Sometimes it's ok to admit that. I personally think the AEM is better than the haltech but it's not mainstream for the pros. Haltech is a proven PROBLEM-FREE winner on the protege. FACT.
 
and look at those 10 mpi threads.. theres maybe 5 ppl who have problems. amazing. and the haltech DOES have problems with the install,more so than the mpi. nick sells more mpi tuners than anyone sells haltechs. thats a fact. no one mentions the many happy mpi owners, such as myself. mine runs PERFECT. and nick is always there, always helpful, and always ready to waste an hour of his shop time to talk to me about random ass crap with my car. while i respect juan and all he does, he does not support the haltech unit in that way.
 
Bottom line is they are both good units for tuning the Protege. The Haltech has a few more options with it, but the MPI is a great unit.

You can't go wrong with either.

man once beau gets the aem to work... i dunno i might have to change my mpi for one. self-tuning........... :-)

I'm sure the MPI works in some capacity. I was only pointing out that the pdhaudio guy is stuck up MAM's ass and thinks everything he touches is golden. If fact I've seen 2 thereads from PDHaudio who was needing mpi help or having troubles with it. Not a good way to sell units if your most vocal supporter has problems with it.

I still think the order of EMS "goodness" is:

#1. AEM

#2. Haltech

#3. Unichip

#4. FMU

#5. mpi


that's an opinion based on what I've seen and what I've owned. ass-kissers don't need to take personal opinions so personal. This thread was started to get opinions. Just because you get free/cheap stuff from someone doesn't mean they are the best.
 
IMHO the AEM is indeed the best, even better than the Haltech e6x. anyone who has played with the AEM software (which can be d/led free btw), or knows its features would agree. but it is also the most expensive option, worth it for some, not so for others.

Beau is making it full plug-and-play, literally, plug it in, load the map and go, (or set to auto-tune if you have the wideband, then fine tune it) as far as I know it is the only REAL plug and play option available (very soon) as even Juan's Haltech harness has a bit of hard wiring to do.

seriously though, all these options work to one degree or another, so pick the option that (features/price) makes the best for you. I am getting the AEM EMS and I'll be happy to give reviews of it once its installed along the MAM thumper kit in my car

Im wondering where I can find an aem unit because im used to it and xede, we all know xede isnt going to happen so aem would be my way to go. Now, where on earth can I find one for sale?

Any idea's?
 
beau from MAM is coming out with a kit that you literally unplug your harness and plug it in.
