AEM is a full standalone. Can't wait for Beau to get it done. And to that guy who said PDaudio is kissing ass, WTF? Beau spends a lot of time making parts for the Protege community, and does a damn good job. Vendors like him, **********, Nick from MPI, and GHL motorsports deserve our props for how much time and effort they spend on here helping us in addition to selling us the parts we need.rarefc3s said:IMO you people don't seem to see the difference between a true EMS and piggy back systems. You are all grouping them into the same category/discussion. That is a mistake IMO. The original poster asked about piggy back systems
AEM--piggyback
MPI tuner (from what I gather)--piggy back
Unichip--piggy back
Haltech--standalone EMS
Bringing the haltech into the discussion is apples to oranges.
I don't really understand these cars either. Most likey, I am thinking it is the wall that prevents the SAFC or SAFC II from working on our cars. It doesn't read in watts like it is supposed to, instead it reads in volts?CasopoliS said:Has anyone contaced Beau, or heard the progress on the AEM ? I do not know the problems with this stuff......what is the big "wall" he is trying to get over with our cars? Thanks.
What reads in watts LOL? You are somewhat correct. The hard part about getting any of these to work is compatibility of signals. If a sensor reads 0-5V and the unit is expecting a 0-10V signal (for example), it will not read correctly. There is a lot that goes into making it work, let alone wiring everything up so it is plug-and-play. Props to Beau's electrician when he gets it done.SpoolinMsp said:I don't really understand these cars either.
