MP5 quirks?

Hey have you noticed any weird/neat things that the MP5 does? I felt like a dumbass yesterday when I just noticed that the doors lock automatically after like 30 seconds. That is, only if all the doors are unlocked first. Any other neat things you noticed?

PS I just got the rings in yesterday from DaveB. I should've have waited so long. THEY LOOK SWEEET!

Your doors auto lock? Perhaps if the engine is turned off and the car is not inuse. But certainly not when the car is on or in gear.

I think that is from the alarm. Mine did that at first too, but I dislike that feature and I disabled it.

What he means is if you walk up to your car and unlock them, then do not open the door within 30seconds they lock again.

Ahhhhh.... yep...
I just realized that the rear window has washers, so you aren't the only one who felt like a dumbass...

Yeah I just noticed that yesterday. I meant to turn on the front windshield wipers...first time it has rained since I bought the car....and I turned on the back wiper washer instead..neat feature.

Yeah, and I just noticed yesterday that there's a button on the door that, when pressed, opens the window :D

I'm sorry, I just find this all too funny. Didn't you guys get to look at the car when you bought it? I mean, I remember I made sure to know every single feature it had (well, ok, the whole 30 second alarm relock thing was new to me after I bought it)

I hated how sensitive the dealer had my alarm set to. Everybody around me thought their system or exhaust was the ish until I turned down the sensitivity.

That or didn't the dealer go through and show you everything?

btw another little secert-Open the rear hatch and look up at it, there is a little handle there for you to close it without putting your hands on the paint. WOW they thought of everything from rear wipers to locking doors :D j/k

(lol)(lol)

At first I thought the handle was silly, but then I started using it just because it was there. Now it'll screw me up when I'm trying to close other hatches that don't have it :D

Another thing: If you switched the trunk light to be on, don't worry, it turns off when you shut the trunk :)

THAT is good to know, cbcbd, because the other day I turned the trunk light on and was wondering just what WOULD happen if I left it on someday. All hell would break lose! The light is STILL on! Stay away from the light! NOOOOOOOoooooooo........ :D

J/k. Yeah, I remember when I realized the 30 sec lock feature, thought it was pretty cool considering I'm always so paranoid about locking the damn thing. What's funny though is now I'm always afraid I won't make it there in time before it locks again. The paranoia is killer! :D I do like that feature though.

did you know that their is a button on your dashboard in that has a red triangle on it, that turns on your hazard lights and when you hit it again Guess what... it turns the hazard lights off j/k

May be dumb, but does anyone know what the hooks are on the back of the rear seats facing the cargo area? I'm trying to figure it out, but can't think of anything...

i believe they're for the cargo net you can get for the rear hatch area. it will hold articles in place and stop them from crash around as we take those corners at 70+!

One time I unlocked the car from a distance and the exact moment that I opened the door the alarm came back on so it went off :) weird

Oh yeah, if you set the alarm while inside your car make sure to remember to shut it off with the keyring before opening the door :D

They are for tethering child seats. Very handy if you have little kids and have a recently made seat that comes with the tether strap. That includes me and probably about 5% of the other P5 owners. For the other 95%, you can use the loops to tie down cargo.

BTW, there are also childseat anchors embedded in the backseats, in the crevice where the seat cushion meets the seat back. The anchor points are indicated by these little round plastic symbols low down on the seat backs (anybody ever wonder about those?).

one cool thing i just found out is that when you open the doors using only your key, if you just turn for like a second it opens the driver's door, but if you leave it turned for more than a second it opens every door including the hatch.
