mp5 header

I've already made the overide circut. I'll install it this weekend and let eveyone know how it goes.

I never said that you had to remove the 2nd sensor to make your mod work, and youre right, it wont work if you do. I was just pointing out that there were other ways to do it. Especially if you no longer have a boss in the exhaust for it. Even when there is the 2nd boss, it is better used for an exhaust gas temp sensor. Also, sooner or later that 2nd sensor is going to go south, and youll need to replace it to keep the CEL off. Gutting the sensor, or removing it and installing a voltage divider means youll never have to worry about it again. You just need to make sure the voltage to the ECU is maintained in band.

anyone got a pic of the header i wana see it and where can i order one from???? and how much and whats the hp gain???

I am trying to gain a bit more power by removing cat's. Is this an effective way to gain power? No turbo for me until after the marriage. Are MP5's and MP3's same header/exhaust set-up ?

Is the second sensor behind both cats or between the two?

As far as emissions controlls out here, I live in Calgary, we are like a bunch of lawless cowboys, no smog tests at all!

The cheapest way to do this is not to remove the cats, but take them off and use a long drill bit to remove the contents of the cats. For this car you will gain a small amount of top end power, but you will also lose some of the bottom end torque. It sounds ghetto to do this, but it is basically the samy as removing the cats. Just my suggestion. And yes, the P5 exhaust should be the same as the MP3. I think the only difference is in the lengths of the two.

It really isn't a lot of work. It took me about an hour to do it. The only part that took a while was taking off and putting back on the cat. If you want to see a big difference, it's not worth it. But there is a small difference. Definetely in sound! The only big power gains for this car will be from nitrous or turbo. But if you decide to do this, make sure you have the 2nd O2 sensor CEL eliminator made first. Also, before you put the cat back on, make absolutely sure you have all of the loose pieces of fiberglass cleaned out of the cat. If you dont, it will rattle and annoy the s*** out of you until it breaks loose and comes out of the exhaust.
