Hello everyone..
I have a 2002 protege5.. there is a buzzing noise commin from my engine which happens when the engine is cold and i rev up to 3000 rpms..

i hear it till the engine temperature warms up.. then i can not hear the noise..
it's just a lil buzzing that might possibly be some kinda vibration? dunno.. anyone else hear anything like when you first start your engine and rev up to 3k?

Also, i've damaged my rim left front rim on a pothole from hell.. anyone wanna sell me just one??

Lastly.. anyone hear a lil whistling noise when ya approach 75-80mph?

Thanks in advance!

Ooh, you have all the fun 2002 problems. =) The first is the cold engine rattle, and they have a TSB on it... It's caused by the VTCS plates clattering in your intake manifold, and the dealer can take care of it pretty quickly for you, usually, under warranty. It's not really detrimental or dangerous, but it's annoying. =)

The whistling is one of two things; If it's more of a whine, it's almost definitly the transmission, which does make some strange noises now and again. Nothing to be concerned about. If it's whistling like wind noise, it's your roof racks, which I beleive they have a TSB for as well; I just removed mine, though. Here is a list of TSB's to reference, courtisy of TheMAN, a very cool member of this board. His whole site rocks:

Either way, welcome to the boards, and hope this helps. =)
