MP3 sound system...is it all bad?

I am going to be getting an MP3 here pretty soon, but I have read here that a lot of people have been having problems with their sound systems, or were generally unimpressed by them. So, I was wondering if it is ALL bad, or if it is one specific part or what. I plan to do this car as AV/appearance oriented (I had a fast car before, did the ALL performance thing, got me in trouble...and I know an MP3 will never be a Ferrari).

Actually, on a side note, I'd like some opinions on a setup. I want really good sound quality, and don't care too much for overwhelming bass. I was thinking of doing an in-dash DVD player w/ flip up screen, then later adding monitors in the headrests. I was looking at the Pioneer AVH-P7500DVD (yeah, it's expensive, but it'll act as a CD/CD-R/DVD/MP3 playing head unit with a retractable 7" LCD touch screen :D ). Anyone have this or know anything about it? I can probably get a good deal through some friends of mine. Then running it through an amp (what size? brand? model?) and maybe a 10" sub or something (not looking for SUPER BASS, but I would like it to be nice). Speakers...well, those I am clueless about. Anyway, just wondering.

Thanks,
Tyler

If you want to do an AV setup I'd use the Alpine IVA-d900...I love the Quality of Alpines in car screens.

Of course...you could just do a dolby system that simulates the center channel, which is what I would do, since I tend yo drive my car and not really watch movies in it. The Alpine has 3 outputs, so that'll get you all set for everything else.

With speakers, you should make sure you listen to them before you buy them. Listen to JL Audio, Eclipse, Boston Acoustics, etc. For an AV system I would go with something that will sound natural reproducing everything. I'll give you 2 example systems here so that you have a good idea of what's out there, but again, I make suggestions on what I like...you'll have to find out what you like first (in other words I take no responsibility, unless you like it! :D)
