2002 22A P5 and 2007 TR MS3
I'm wondering about getting a set for my P5....A killer local deal, but don't really know if they would be much of an upgrade from my good ol' stockers.....Anyone know the weight of the 2002 P5 stockers and the weight of the MP3 Racing Harts.....That is all....(peep)

I did some research on this recently because I was thinking of doing the same thing. The stock P5 16's are around 16lbs, and the MSP's are around 22lbs. I dont know if that's for the heavier silver versions, or lighter dark silver/gray ones though. Apparently the 03.5 wheels got a little lighter. For the reason of 22lbs I decided not to go with MSP wheels. It's not a huge difference in weight, but it is noticable.

There is no way the 16's are 16lbs. My 17 subzeros were 16's and those were light. The stockers are between 19-20lbs. The Racing harts are around 21-22. It is worth the buy for the added grip. Go for it.

Shots of my p5 w/ mp3 wheels powdercoated bronze. They seem pretty light as I just put em on. They currently have snow tires on, and yes, they rub. lol.

I think the 16"s weigh 17lbs. When I pulled mine with 205/50-16 Dunlop FM901 tires they weighted 36.1lbs total. If you put on the 22lb wheels you would be adding 5lbs more to rotaional mass at each corner, that'll will make your car feel a little heavier/slower, but MP3 wheels very sexy.

According to wheelweights.net, Mazda Protege 5 ES in the 16 x 6.5 size are 16lbs. I'm not sure what a protege 5 es is, but it's the right size. :)

+1 for the stockers being 16lbs. i shipped them two at a time and according to usps, each box was ~32 lbs.

+1 for the exact info I'm looking for....Sometimes this place just kicks ass.....So I'll pass on the MP3's and stick with my lil, guys....for now...So next question....lightest, cheapest 17X7's for the ride?????

***So basically, with the 17X7's I'd get better grip in corners and ?AutoX?prob not, with the 16X6.5's I'll get better gas mileage, lighter weights, and a more comfortable daily drive....hhhhmmmm????***

So would $450 for 4 wheels, no damage, caps and tuner lugs be a good deal.....I still might get them off him....

Damn sexy.....how much the powdercoat cost???? My midnight blue would look hot in those shoes....Do they rub with your summer tires??? I wouldn't think so...

for the record, the stock ES/P5 16" wheels are 6" wide, not 6.5". -1 to mazda for yet another wacky wheel size.

IMO the best 17x7 for the money is the Kosei K1-TS. the MP3 wheels ARE extremely sweet-looking, but probably better suited for street use only b/c the last thing our cars need on an autoX course is more weight...especially unsprung weight.

Thanks, I bought em like that. Just got em a few weeks ago with the snow tires, so I'm not sure if they'll rub with summer tires, but I doubt it. I've been quoted anywhere from 80-250 to re-powdercoat them. Hope this helps!

I weighed my MSP wheel with tire (215/45/17) and it came in about 40lbs (no lie) and cant' wait to jump back onto the 16's for winter.

The MSPs will be up for sale soon.
