Hey to all you MP3 owners out there. I've got a question, this afternoon I test drove an MP3, I'm very interested in the car and will probably buy. However, upon further detail of the car I noticed that when starting the car, in idle, and in rpm range 1000-3500 the cars front end and dash shake and vibrate A LOT. I had a very strong feeling that the engine mounts were worn out. Is this simply the exhaust system?

I'm having the car checked out by a mechanic before purchase.

it could be that it has very hard aftermarket motormount inserts....they will make the car shake a bit depending on what hardness they are....

I would second evilmonkeyMSP's comment, if the motor mounts were replaced with the much stiffer aftermarket ones, it will vibrate pretty good at idle. You should be able to see the mounts from underneath to verify or simply try to rock the engine. If it doesn't move a bit when you push on it. . .then they are most likely aftermarket, if it moves stock, and if it moves a lot they might be wasted as you mentioned.

yeah check under the car. see if the front motor mount is like a gold color....or well anything that looks non stock which is black and ugly lookin. wish i had a pick of the stock one for ya.
