MP3 Electrical Issue?

For some reason, I am going through coil packs like crazy. The issue started up yesterday and replaced the left coil pack. This evening the car broke down and this time it was the right pack. I replaced the coil pack and didn't even make it 10 miles and the left coil pack is "dead" once again.

What am I missing?? Any clues, thoughts, idea on what else it could be?

Replaced the plugs, wire set as well. Prior to this, both coil packs were replaced 3 months ago.

I was getting P0421/P0660 codes

Any help would be great!

No, not yet. A part of me doesn't believe that could lead up to what happened below.

When checking for spark in the coil packs, the first time, the right coil pack had no spark. Replacing that, cured the problem. The latest issue was the left coil pack had no spark, replacing it cured the problem.

I started it this morning to move it into the garage (on a steep incline) and it started fine. No immediate misfire, pulled into the garage, let it idle for about 10-15 minutes and then it started misfiring with no spark in the right coil pack.

In talking with a friend of mine, he was looking over the wiring diagram for the Protege and he believes it looks as if the O2 sensor(s) may be tied into the coil packs but wasn't able to determine if it was just ground or something else. If that is the case somehow, I would assume that the O2 sensor(s) (still original from what I can gather) may be causing the issues and possibly shorting out the coils.

I am really just trying to rack my mind what else it could be. All of the grounds are fine and tight, battery cables are good.

Knock Sensor, Camshaft Position Sensor, MAF, TPS, Crankshaft Position Sensor? Those are the only things I can come up with that are ignition related.

It happens hot or cold it seems and it happens immediately.

The culprit for everything this past week. Glued it in, drove it around for a few hours and it's been perfectly fine.

Does anyone know if those clips can be purchase some where?
