Mazda MP3 (Blue Mica)
Hey guys...my warranty is up for my MP3 and since I was getting the squeak back on my MP3, I sent a letter to Mazda Canada. They are going to call me back tomorrow but my dealership wants to know if I would replace my MP3 Stabilizer bar and bushings for a regular Protege Stabilizer bar and bushings. They claim they have no problems with the regular stabilizer and bushings.

Would it make a big difference in performance of the MP3? I need to make a decision by tomorrow.

Thanks in advance!!!

you would most likely feel a difference in handling. and also with the matching front swaybar to the stock MP3 one. im sure the front handling characteristics would be more prominent without the bigger rear bar to balance things out.

don't do it...i would imagine your car would push like hell...just replace the bushings. ken @ www.protegegarage.com sells urathane bushings...i've heard they're pretty good...or PM evolv for his kit...it's around $200...but everyone claims that it's the best mod they've done.

I wouldnt downgrade....

Why dont you just re-grease your bushings? When you have urethane bushings they need to get greased every so often. I know on my old car I had to add grease, especially if we had a lot of rain.

Thanks for the input guys...I really don't know what to do. As much as I'd love to spend $$$ on the car, my priorities are different than most guys here. I just want to pay off my house and my stuff so I can retire early..yes, I am only 27 and talking like an old man already.. :)

I saw Evolv's upgrade but $200 is steep for a mod that doesn't give me more HP...Not dissing the mod though, I am sure it's great and works well...As for greasing it ever couple of thousand KMs, sounds like a pain in the ass for me.

What to do? what to do?......

it's not THAT hard...2 bolts/bushing...you can knock it out in less than 30 minutes. that's what i do...it's quick/easy/CHEAP...and you probably won't have to do it that often. i grease mine maybe twice a year.

hmmm..interesting..twice a year is reasonable...u use Lithium based white grease, right?

no, use the energy suspension bushing grease... it does NOT dry like lithium grease and is more water resistant than it... I'm on the "E" bushings for the past 2 years (my original set) and had no problems

DON'T DO IT.....replacing the MP3 swaybar that is. Just replace the bushings with the AWR ones for a couple of bucks and you are good. I have had them for 1 and a half years and still no squeak from it.

The mechanic probably wants to replace it so that he can put it on his car ;)

This Energy suspension bushing grease, can I get it at Canadian Tire??
and is it weather resistant because we get temperatures of almost -50 degrees Celsius in the winter.

The evolv/AXR clunk fix bracket has grease fittings on it 8-)

I could grease it daily without jacking up the car if I wanted to. <3 my grease gun

I just installed the AWR endlinks and urethene bushings this weekend on my MP3 and I've got to agree with what these guys are saying.

Thanks for the input guys...MUCH appreciated!!!

I now know to tell my dealership to "F" off and give me my bushings!!! *pointing to his palm*

Update!!!!

So the manager from Mazda called me, he will replace the bushings and maybe the sway bar...parts will be free but I have to pay for labour $84.00 Tx included. I am thinking of doing this, then buy the grease to grease it 2-3 times a year like most of u suggested.

Sounds reasonable, no?

if they are replacing the bar with another racingbeat bar, then go for it. 84 bucks isnt bad, but sure beats dealer price for the bar and bushings.

just double check they are using another racingbeat bar and the correct bushings. then you should be good to go.

Yeah, everything is going to be the same. I should consider myself lucky because my warranty is up. So I will grease them up for another year and when I start a family, sell it and get an SUV. As long as the new owner doesn't hear the SQUEAK before he buys it, it's all good.. :)
