mp3 1/4 time

with cai, cams, exhaust, springs and a ss i'm runnin 16.1 in my p5... i could prolly pull a 15.9 on empty with my car gutted.

if anything a new clutch will maybe help disengage > engage for quicker shifts so maybe like a tenth that everyone was talking about.

a flywheel should give you better acceleration yes, but not so much as to chop off a second or more off your e/t.

you are talking about detuned turbo protege e/t's there buddy.

also about reaction: yes bracket racing is where its at, its all about being a consistant driver.

thats one nice run.

do you have more details on that run? 1/4mph, 1/8ET, 1/8MPH, 60ft?

me vs hellcat 4 runs, both same mods, cai and muffler, but 1.8L vs 2.0L watch the action in the second half of the run. both 5speeds of course.

So, what then?

Just curious about the 1/4 mile time. I have run 3 or 4 times with my best of 17.2 @ 83 mph with nothing but an Injen CAI. I am sure I can hit high 16s now that my launch and shifting has improved. (This was my first 5 speed.)

I recently put the J-spec intake and exhaust cams in my MP3 and am about to install an ACT street clutch and Indigospeed flywheel in the next couple of weeks.

Any idea of what I should expect to run? (Say an average driver not a pro.) Thats with all my current mods (in signature) plus a clutch and flywheel.

Thanks,
Booze (drive)

someone listed an equation of 1/8th mile time to 1/4 mile time....I've not run my car 1/4 mile yet, but I run a 10.5s in the 1/8th with my stock p5 (stock tires). Someone said that translated into a 15.9s quarter....I know equations all have variables, but wouldn't you agree that I'm pretty close?? This is just a stock car also. I've got my MP3 ecu and msp axelback (no gain) so I figure that may count for .1s... I'm hoping with my CAI, stage 2 cams, wagner header and full exhaust and 15" drag radials I'll hit mid 15s.

shifting on this car is diff than most manuals i've driven, i cant do better than a 17.0 with aem short ram and short shifter, do u guys shift at redline? alittle before? a little after? what kind of tires are u running? are these times stock weight? im going to be toying with the weight thing and shift points here in the next few weeks and i got a decent free flow exhaust on it now so hopefully even with the bad track conditions we have here in oklahoma i should be able to get it into the low 16's. with the mods u speak of and doing the same as im doing (playing with launch and shift points) i would see very low 16's and possibly high 15's.

was there a noticable diff with the cams?

my car is a "stock" p5 with stock tires and a full MSP sound system and it seems to run faster than most mp3's. I swapped over to the mp3 ecu and actually dropped a tenth from a 10.5s to a 10.6s....I don't think this is an ecu problem, it's just been hard getting grip at the track. I'm running stock 16" polished wheels and I have a modified stock intake. I think 90% of racing between proteges is going to come down to the driver.

I'm just curious because i've never raced at a drag strip, only dirt tracks, but is all the ET 1/4 times converted to SeaLevel?

I just got the digimoto software and cable and found the flattest paved area i could and ran an 18.02 at 80 mph 1/4. I live in Montana where i'm way above sea level, so i found a site that converted times based apon elevation and at sea level i'm at 16.587, which is similar to some guys have posted here.

I just have sri and a header.

hehe I just read this entire thread. From my own experiences with the stock MP3 clutch and my new CM Stage II-R clutch and Fdanza flywheel, there isn't a whole lot of difference in feel no, but quality and ability to stand up to the turbo yes. It engages quicker- but yes will bog under lower RPMs- the idle is also a bit worse. The new clutch can help a good driver but not much.

i have only been to the track once in my life, but managed to run a 14.8@97.88 (dunno)

if i practiced more im sure i could shave some more time off. i wasnt sure how to launch at the track, and had tons of traction problems on every run. Hopegully i get back soon.

Thats nice, you just need some practice, anyway, I did 14.5 @ 10psi http://home.coqui.net/igdrasil/gallery/turbo/14_5_10psi.wmv

The 14.7s was @ 7psi

So I can do it better than that.

thanks, i know i can do much better. even that run traction sucked, and i got about a 2.45 60' time. My run was ~8.5psi. When i get my new exhaust cutout in, im gonna head back. I need to feather the clutch, and not mash the gas so early :) wheelspin/hop owned me.

if you hit 14.7 at 7 i woulds think low 14's at 10. good luck man, 13's shouldnt be too tough.

I haven't runt he track yet either and probably won't until the whether gets cool again out here (AZ where it's already close to 100's). After I install my motormounts and get my new FMIC running I'm hoping for 14 flat or high 13's at 8.5 psi and race gas.

Well...to run those ETs you need to go over 10psi on the track and drag tires to get some good numbers on the 60ft

Well this may be true... But I think my turbo setup is different then yours. At 9 psi I'm around 210 to the wheels. But you are right about connecting. If I can't connect it's over. I was going to borrow some cheater slicks to take care of that prob.
