mp3 1/4 time

i ran 16.5 with intake. but that was my first time at the track

i think mp3s run stock 16.8 if im not mistaken

i figured they would be faster then that, they are only ~250lbs more then a S/R and a good driver can run 15.5 them i figured they were a high 15 car

stock vs stock, ZX2 will kill the MP3 in 1/4 mile and 0-60. but for looks and handling, MP3 all the way......

I'd honest like to see a S/R and MP3 go head to head on an autoX track(same driver to keep it even) and how things come out, then put a mx3 strtbar and egt sway bar on and see how it does.

Im still pissed ford never numbered the S/R's

If you lose to a ZX2 you need to sell your car right away and start walking everywhere. I have a 00 Protege ES with HKS intake, J-Spec cam, Corksport exhaust, and ACT stage 1 Clutch. Raced a ZX2 and a 1.8t GTI and beat them both. The ZX2 was not even close to catching anyone. Learn to drive.

i hate it when people dont think b4 they post and assume every driver is a pro.

you have a protege es? wanna see the actual specs on the 2 cars?

ProtegeES:
hp: 130@6000
tq: 135@4000
weight: 2577lbs
Coundn't find gearing
book time: 16.8
time i found were 16.3-16.6 1 at 16.0

Escort ZX2:
hp: 130@5750 S/R: 146hp
tq: 127@4250 S/R: 140tq
weight: 2478lbs
Same gearing as MSP
book time: 15.7
Typical 15.8-16.2 S/R: 15.5-15.8

why u guys comparing zx2 and mp3? do they have the same engine? Just wondering...

the msp motor is power site the same as a focus motor which is a zx2 motor with a differnt head

s/r is basicly the Ford verion of the MP3 only MP3 got a better sound system, and swaybar, and a strutbar.

so the S/R is to the zx2 what MP3 is to the Protege

I'll Run a ZX2, Fortunately i spanked one already, but this was on the freeway" Knowing the ZX2 is governed at 105-110mph. I did run one before, In my Brother-in-law's 02 SE-R 5pd with just an CAI, i think i killed him by 3-4car's. Then I ran his buddy's 91 hatch with a ZC motor, still beat him by 1 1/2car's. But yeah the ZX2 and MP3 have basically the same 1/4mile times Stock vs Stock.

Actually if a MP3 is only gonna run about 16.5 then a Zx2 should always win(with equal drivers). My 1st time at the track I went from an idle, spun part of 2nd (drove through the box and didn't spin the tires dry) and I weigh 280lbs and still ran 16.7, my friend then ran 16.2 in it, same night, full interior and trunk.

Quite a few have gotten ZX2's to run 15.7-.9 and S/R's to run 15.5-.7

What is the skidpad for the MP3? Ford never gave the numbers for the s/r but i found that a Escort wagon swaybar and front slicks will get ~.98g so I'd assume the MP3 is about even to that with slicks.

The MP3 and MSP are the best handling FWD cars ever made. Stock, they run .88-.90, and 70-73mph in the slalom. The MSP set the FWD record for slalom at Sport Compact Car. With slicks(or even R-Compounds), they'd run well over 1G on the skidpad....
