Moving on from my beloved 02 WRX and into an 08 MS3

So guys I just wanted to say whats up and introduce myself.

I have been a LOYAL subaru guy for almost 5 years now. I never thought I would own anything other than a suby, but that is going to change very soon. After driving the new 08 WRX hatch and feeling disappointed, a friend of mine got an 08 MS3 and let me drive it. I instantly fell in love. The power, THE STEERING!!, interior, lights, is just a better package for alot less money. Im going to miss the AWD, but I live in SOCAL so its never really needed and from what I have experienced the MS3 handles better.

Im looking forward to just changing Suspension/wheels and calling it a day. Im tired to dropping all my cash into parts to make a car something else.

Nice looking Subie. I think you'll really love the MS3 though. Good thing about the MS3 is also it's inexpensive to mod. Well not too expensive. Intake and TBE will get your over 300 bhp. Simple effective bolt-ons. Throw on some coils, rear sway and some lightweight rims, and you're set.
 
Im tired of the body style (ie 02-07 Impreza's) and the new STi's are more than I want to spend right now. 24K is what the dealer has quoted me online for the MS3 vs 36k base STI price.

I want a car that im happy with from the factory. I really don't like the new suby interior.

Dude, I just did the same thing, but I had an 05 STi. The mazda won me over after the first test drive.....I was really dissapointed with the 08 WRX performance and apperance wise.
 
i'm not going to lie...that's a HAWT color! if i could trade my cosmic blue ms3 for a ms3 in that color, i would do it in a heartbeat...
 
Call me weird but I think the 08 STi looks like a MS3 with a hood scoop. Had I known they were going to come out with that instead I may have just spent the extra on that instead and had a car I could drive in the winter too. Nice WRX though. I'm in Anaheim Hills right now. Extremely jealous that you guys get to drive on roads like this year round.
 
nice rex man! the ms3 is a nice step above the bugeyed models....the 08 wrx/sti's are a love hate relationship...i drove an 08 hatch the day it hit the lot (wrx) and was not impressed with the way it drove..i did like the sweeping guages and the extra room the new platform gave you but all in all i won't be trading for one....now the sti on the other hand.......maybe.

what color ms3 are you getting?
 
Me too!

I went from an '02 wrx to an '07 MS3 and could not be happier. Just finished my first round of mods too! If you do the equivalent of all the work you did on your suby to your speed3, you will not be sorry!

You missed the point where he said he did not want to dumpa bunch of money into his car anymore.

But an intake and exhaust is fairly cheap and will yield good gains.
 
I wouldn't go that far maybe wrx performance but not the sti(screwy)...sorry bud but comparing the ms3 to the sti is apples/oranges.

Dude!, Ok we got it, you love your wrx. The ms3 is closer to the sti than to the wrx. Yeah, we know, the sti is all out performance, 300hp, awd, 6 speed, driver adjustable torque bias. But the regular wrx is not up to the ms3 no matter what suby fans say, w/o dumping lots of cash.

Take my word, I wanted a wrx, for almost 5 years. Reading SSC and SS magazine, for suby stuff. When the time came to get a new car, I tested the ms3 and a 06 wrx the same day. I was really disappointed in the wrx. To me the ms3 is better in every way, except awd, and that is almost a moot point because the wrx tranny is crap. Peace.

did you read that? MS3 TO STI...i stated that the ms3 is comparable to the wrx not the sti. I never not one time was bashing the ms3 in any way. Hell i love the damn car! .i was correcting the person that stated -

Ms3 skid pad .87g. Nuremberg? Did you mean Nurburgring? lol I belive it was 8.39

Well lets see, I never said the ms3 is better than the sti, that is just insane. But I did said is closer to the sti than to the wrx. 0.90g for the 08 STi, 0.93g for the 07 STi, Ms3 is 0.87g and 8:24 vs 8:39, I say that is close in performance for $10k less. Wrx skidpad is 0.83g, What is the wrx time at Nurburgring?
