motor mounts too stiff

new motor mounts installed, the street version from awr, a lot of rattling and vibrating. would a torque dampener help? and if so, who makes one compatible for the protege? I may even be calling it the wrong name.

I think you mean an engine damper. See Link below:

what durometer engine mounts are you using? There are a couple different "stiffness-es". I have the 95 in the front and it's not too bad.

the vibrating is the result of having non-oem motor mounts....get rid of the vibration and wheel hop would be worst....

i love the vibrtaion...gets you closer to feeling your car....remember...we're not supposed to enjoy a quiet ride..not even stock...since mazda did the clunk and a bunch of other little noises that make up for a great noisy ride....want a confortable, non-noisy ride? get a cadillac :P

Haha somehow I don't think Mazda designed the rear swaybar to clunk and decide that we wouldn't care because they are econocars :)

I had the 95 durometer mount but went back to stock because it was a bit much. I'm now rocking the 70 durometer and it's a lot better. I think my rear mount might be torn though :( :(

I got the RR-Racing F/R incerts and couldnt be happier.

Wheel hop is gone, there is no jerking arround of the front end & insides. Its a smooth ride.

I've got the Front Motor Mount and the passenger side inserts. I just haven't had time to finish with the drivers side yet. I noticed my car was riding and idling really smooth right after the install but seemed to start vibrating more after a little while. And I still got wheel hop at the track on Friday. I don't know what the deal is.

i don't know why everybody complains, hell i wish i went for stiffer mounts

because my gauge cluster, gauge cluster surround, dashboard on the driver side, hood, etc all rattle like a b****. :D

If you have the AWR mount but want stiffer inserts I could send you mine (the stiffest ones) if I can find them. Only used for like 5k miles or so until I got the slightly softer ones.

What have you done to the rear mount?

They normally get torn to s***.

The rear mount is still good. I looked at it the other day. The reason I bought the side mount inserts is because the mount on the passenger side was destroyed. I mean there was literally nothing there. The rear mount and the mount on the drivers side are both still ok tho.

The rear gets beat to hell. If you only have the front and 1 side, Ill put my money on thats your issue and thats why you got wheel hop still. Get the other Side incert and rear incert. They take about 2-3 weeks to break in, the vibes will go down, and the wheel hop will be no-more.

I kind of like the Vibes, It tickels my nuts! It also makes the women cream their panties. Why do you think they love to ride Harley's?

Did you do them all at once, or start with the front, then do the others?

I'm wondering how much of a difference adding a 70 durameter rear AWR mount will make. I haven't actually been under my car in about a week to take a peek at it, but I'm willing to bet my rear mount is toast. I don't really want to buy an OEM mount and have it rip again.

My rear was torn to s***, I just had the RR-Racing incert stuffed in and its great.

I push the throttle and the block doesnt budge its awsome.

I dont feel like Im the worst shifter in the world anymore the car shifts with grace now.

I did the front and rear at the same time and Im waiting for them to break in before I do the sides with AWR incerts. All incerts, no mount replacement.

all im saying is, the downpipe broke because my oem mounts were garbage. it was re-welded and the mounts were replaced w/awr mounts. i dont mind too much vibration from the conscole, but i dont like hearing the vibrations from under my car when the windows are down. also, the a/c compressor broke. either it was because of the old mounts, or the vibration from the new ones. its hard to tell, so i was looking for something to dampen that. One guy here gave me a good link to try, so im probably going to try it out or make one on my own
