When I first started driving stick (was about 17 @ the time) I was parked on the side of a shopping building. The car was facing the wall in the space and I was getting in my car and getting ready to leave. I start the car, forgot I left it in gear and let off the clutch. BAM!!! right into the wall. It didnt really damage the car, there was only a few "nicks" (looked like stone chips) but it was REALLY loud, and I was in view of about 1/2+ of the parking lot. Needless to say more than a few people saw it and stared. I pulled off in shame. lol...
My brother's most embarrassing moment was even better. Let me start off by telling you hes NOT (or wasnt at the time) a good driver. He bought a brand new Saturn SL1 and thought he was the coolest for having a new car lol. He just got off work, it was like 10-11 at night. He gets in, and takes off... mind you this is at a grocery store parking lot. hits second, floors it, hits 3rd, goes for 4th.... at about this time he didnt realize there was a foot high median in front of him that separated 2 parts of the parking lot. He hits it going soo fast that his car flew in the air about 10-15 feet before it hit the ground. cracks his oil pan, busted his bumper, the airbags went off, hits his transmission and grinds 3 wheels down to half (they were steelies and there was litterally half a wheel left on 3 wheels...).
Didnt total the vehicle but there was about 6-7k of damage... and EVERYONE (about 10 people) that he works with saw it. the car had to be DRAGGED onto the flatbed. To this day there is still a long scrape mark on the pavement from his transmission dragging against the ground. He was subsequently nicknamed "kirby" for quite a while. I felt bad for him but at the same time it was the funniest thing I had seen in a while. I should have kept pictures.... the car looked priceless lol.
