The leather seats in the 6 and F/L/M vehicles are actualy comfortable compared to the CTS ones. CTS ones reminded me of my cloth seats in my 6, but with leather.

Above statement is true and I did drive the V6 CTS on multiple occasions.

no cts-v though.. dang.

Well first off, you should read Mazdas reason for making the MS6. The MS6 is't for the young tunners, it is geared more the the OLDER family guys like me that want some thing sporty (lke the STI EVO) but not as hard core fast and furious looking as the STI EVO. I personally don't want a car with a wing the size of a small child. With the MS6 you can still take a woman on a date and look like an adult but then the next day you can put on your play close and tear up the streets. The only thing I see wrong with it is that one, it should be 300+hp and maybe start around 24-25k. Other than that is on par for what it is.

that was their reasoning for not doing a Scoop.

You tring to get me to fall out of love with my mercuryspeed grand marquis?

I bought my MS6 because it was understated (great for the highway), fast (enough for my needs), unique, technologically advanced, and roomy enough for my 12 and 14 year olds.

I, too, believe it's not marketed for 20 year olds. I'm 48, and my previous 4 cars in the past 8 years:

MINI Cooper S (fun, but too small)
Ford Contour SVT (same logic as MS6)
PT Cruiser (well, it looked neat - for 2 weeks)
Mustang GT (Vortech Supercharger, in arrest me red)

It's not the perfect car (M3 with SMG I think fits that bill, but $60K?!!), but for today, it's close. Closer than the WRX, STI, TSX for me.

I'm amazed at the number of folks panning the MS6 who don't own one, or haven't even driven one. I find it easier to compare vehicles I've driven than to read magazine articles or what others have written about cars, before making up my mind.

Go drive the MS6 with an open mind, not preconceived notions, then come back and tell us what you think.

Very well said. I am 36, but feel the same way. I can easily haul around my 14,12, and 10 y/o kids, but at the next moment haul ass on the back roads without having the cops pull me over every other light because the car happens to stand out (this has happened several times in the MSP). The car does not look at all out of place in the lot at work beside Audis, BMWs, or Porsches. Aggressive, but understated with the muscle to back itself up. Not for the young tuner crowd, but definitely directly on point for its intended market.

The first point you mention is the precise reason I like my folks Millennia S back in the day. The problem is ALL other 40+ men (looking at imported sedans) are stopping by the Lexus/Infinity/BMW/Merc/Acura dealers. Granted these cars cost more, but they offer enough thrust/luxury/agility to meet their needs, plus they are more front of mind for this demographic.

As for the second point, it can be debated. I believe that the MS6 is aimed squarely at men who imagine they are still young enough to by a sports car (i.e. mentally single 20-somethings), even if the car seat requirement makes them get a 4-door. And I probably wouldn't judge weather this is true or not for the US market as a whole based on the response/reflections from this forum. Remember this is an enthusiasts forum, populated by people who, by most (other peoples) standards, place their vehicles too far up the time/money/attention priority list.

To summarize, to me the MS6 should be a 4-door sports car. The Millennia was a much better HWY cruiser (I ass*u*me, 'cause I haven't driven the MS6) but wasn't really a fun car for it. Plus it had a whiz bang Miller Cycle SC V6 (2.3L, too). I guess I am simply projecting my wants onto the MS6, and not taking an impartial look based on what the Mazda engineers' goals were.

So, I suppose what I want is a sedan in RX-8 clothing. Not quite as radically designed. Real rear doors, 5 passenger seating, a trunk, cylinders instead of rotors, but keeping the theme of nimble and *lightweight*.

the speed 6 is plauged with random powerloss on the topend. 93octane or not its Hesitation part 2.
I was going to post that too, but im sure id get the age old response of "well this is only in a few vehicles, all cars have problems....blah blah blah"

It's the automotive equivilent of "She's ugly but has a great personality"

i wont even test drive one out of principle, so unattractive

i disagree, i don;t think it's unatractive at all, you lower that thing get some nice rims and tires....saw one today go by me at a light had a bosal exhaust, i think, it looked nice...i'd consider the ms6, but it is on the heavy side...waits for the ms3...

completely agree if you lower it and add rims, but i cant see myself buying a car that looks like that on stock rideheight and wheels. I changed both on my msp but like the se-r spec v at the time I would have been content driving it without changing either because it looked so good from the factory IMO. The wheels are just horrendous on the 6 IMO. The body has some nice changes (subtle) but they arent significant enough for me to over look the wheels and rideheight

Just a thought, but if you went and bought a MS6 and already had some wheels ready to install on it, I bet you could work something out with the dealership where they keep the stock wheels and tires and give you a small refund. My cousin did that when he picked up his Special Edition Civic last year, and the guys at the dealership jumped at it, cause they can sell the wheels for factory price without having to give any money back to the factory.

not a bad idea.. I'm not a huge fan of the wheels on the car, but for 270+ hp, I'd live

270hp in a huge car. I read they are low 14's but for some reason for $30,000 it kinda bums me out. i think im just jaded.

see, I have a different opinion because I drive a 6 every day... my perception of speed is different than most people's. I went from a 97 grand am se 4 banger to my 6.. my 6 is a lot faster than my grand am was. furthermore, i have a lot of fun driving my 6 every day. I can't imagine what it would be like with awd and 100 extra horsepower.. with that in mind, if I had the dough, I'd go for a speed 6 because I like my regular 6 so much!

Yeah it's true it's not as fast as some cars, but no Mazda has even been the fastes in it's class, that's not what the company is about. Mazdaspeed cars are decently quick and tons of fun to drive, that's the whole concept of "Zoom Zoom"

FMIC sure stopped my hesitation.

But the MS6 is nice. I've looked at it numerous times at the dealer and those assholes still wont let me test drive it. The say to many kids come in here trying to drive it and we had to stop. I'm like ok you can drive , and he still wouldnt. Fags, but the my mehanice at mazda said he'll get me a ride.

But anywy. I like the car it's obviously fast and with a few mods it will be shaking it's ass in front of Evo's and Sti's. Plus it's already got 270hp280tq. Imagine the numbers on a hooked up MS6. I can't wait.

Oh, and whoever said 300hp for 24-26k. With a turbo?? I doubt that will ever happen...Only thing for that price with 300Hp is the new GT MuSTang.
