Monster Miata

Anyone seen the miata with an sr20det? Friiggin sick! I dont think he was from the US tho.... I saw it in a sport compact mag issue.

It's in California. It's too hard of a swap, and too expensive. For all the work you could get a 1.8 Miata engine stroked to 2.0 and have just as much power and spend less money.

The SR20DET is not the come all/be all of motors in any regard.

yeah, but can a ls1 redline at 9k rpms.... id take a 13b tt powered mx-5 over a ls1..

In the Corvette it revs to 6.5k which is still pretty high for a pushrod engine. That being said, the horse power and torque STOCK blows a 13b turbo out of the water. You'd have something called TORQUE which an RX-7 owner can only dream about, too.

That being said, I want a 13b swap cause it's about $10,000 cheaper.

so? RPM do not equal power.

in most cases.. just look at dynos sheets, engines will redline at 7k, but power drops off around 6k... just nature of engines.. i agree with pluto, it would be more reliable, cheaper and more powerful with the ls1 engine or ford 302.. with reliablity the top thing... i was just messin around about the 13b, it would be a great swap, but u know the nature of those engines 70k u have to replace them and that = $$$$$$$$$$

sorry.. hard to read the sarcasm in your post :p

thats the bad thing about the internet... cant tell when someones being sarcastic..

Watch a master:

Pff, it's not like it can rev to 9k RPMs. You can't drift no heavy American v8. Infact it'll ruin the car's balance.

That's better than a Monster Miata IMO...

The original Monster Miata made by the company in Cali put 302s in them. I had a friend back in Louisvilly, KY who owned a real Monster Miata. She had a Ken Bell SC ready to install on it when we moved back to Texas.

But I am originally a GM girl, so of course the corvette engine appeals more to me. But I'd like to try an engine more of the LS1 flavor in a miata...(glare)

i'm really not. i'm in waco but i go to dallas a lot with the dfw crew. i'm there every thursday and tomorrow i'll be there.

yea. i was in austin a couple of nights ago with another miata.

LIMECREEK. WEWT.
yep. we used to top 80mph thru some of the straighter parts on Lime Creek, but now it is getting so densly developed it isn't safe to do such speeds. Ah, the cost of development...I can remeber when there was NOTHING on Lime creek, save a very few houses. The good ol' days...

there not that heavy...my friend is putting one in his rx7...ts gonna be sick(though not as sick as one in a miata)!!!

-nods- i actually topped at 80 also, never thought that'd happen but right after some of those straights are 15mph turns, total ownage if you aren't aware. i've only ran it in the wee hours of the morning, just you, and the road.

Just wait till I get mine with a 13b swap.

ive seen an article in sport compact car with a 13b swapped miata. thing is slammed on some awesome bbs wheels, is somewhat of a wide body layout. thing looks SO friggin mean. its how miata's should have been built.

i wish i still had that mag, i think i trashed it.

but i beleive the article name was " cobra miata " or something like that.
