Mini Cooper

Two or three years from now, I'd like to get a Mini. Does anyone have any experience with these cars? I couldn't find a good Mini forum.

Perhaps things you heard from friends/relatives?

I haven't driven one, but they seem like a great car: good gas mileage, nice power (considering the weight), and handling! Heh.

Last but not least: attachment taken by me.

They are crap, to me atleast.

I think the interior looks weird and I heard they are roll-over queens.

Roll-overs. Wow. Sounds like an SUV (hahaspit)

Edit: the interior I can handle, considering it's a good car otherwise.

The only thing I don't like is the interior and the body styling, they don't appeal to me.

The only thing I've heard is the rollover thing. *shrugs* Didn't come from my mouth.

I like how your location is eastern nebraska like there's any life besides cows that live in western nebraska......

moving on.....

I kind of like them and have seen some really nice modded ones, but from what I hear they're way heavy out of the box, the handling is really soft, and they're just generally slow. The only one's I've ridden in were gutted with a roll cage with some serious mods under the hood.....but those were a blast.

And even though it's dumb to typecast cars......it's what I'd get for my daughter when she went to college and joined a sorority =)

(screwy)
I have a hard time reconciling "Roll-over queens" with "Auto-Cross beasts" which is most of what I've heard about them and seen at the races. Just about every car magazine raves about their handling, and GRM talks a lot about them as real autocross contenders.
(scratch)
Also, my Brother-in-law has a Cooper S. He loves it, and having driven it (only once, sadly) I can attest that it's a rocket! I'm thinking about one myself as a daily driver, possibly a Mini Traveler, if they look good when they finally come out.

Just try not to get in the blind spot of an 18wheelers, or anything that moves for that matter...you might end up squished like a lady bug.

Roll-over queen my ass. My sister has one of the early models, supercharger w/optional suspension (IIRC 18" wheels). The thing is a slot car. Ride was rough but the handling was amazing. Interior is different but very well done (remember that BMW is making these now).

Just be aware that it is really a two-seater, the back seat is useless unless you are 6 years old. As with any car you are considering, take a test drive to see if you would be happy with it.

I sell MINI's in Philadelphia, they are a BLAST to drive. I've had 3 of them, 2 Cooper S's and one Cooper. I currently have the Cooper as my daily driver. I've driven almost 100k miles over the last 5 years in various MINI's. I live outside of Philadelphia, and we recently took a 1200 mile trip to Maine and back in the MINI. It was awesome! Fun to drive and 35 miles to the gallon on the highway. The Cooper S's are pretty fast, and they all handle like mad. The term "slot car" is about as accurate as it gets. (like most people here) I'm a car geek, and I would drive a MINI even if I didn't sell them. I've had 2 miata's in the past. Right now we have a 2004 Mazda 3 hatch, a 2006 MINI Cooper, and a 1998 BMW M Roadster. The back seat is tight, but then again I don't need to haul a soccer team around - so that doesn't bother me. We have the 3 if we need to take people around. If anybody wants to take one for a rip come see me at MINI of the Main Line! (be careful though, you may want to trade in your Mazda for one) :)
