MIL Eliminator problem

So I got a custom turbo back exhaust setup and installed a MIL Eliminator and I have thrown 2 cels now in the past 3-400 miles. Anybody have any suggestions on what I could do to get rid of this damn cell. I disconnect my battery and reset everything when I throw a cell and it goes away for about 150-200 miles. So could this be a bad MIL Eliminator or what else could it be. Im sure its because of the Rear O2 sensor because I have no cats.

any suggestions???

are you sure you hooked it up right cause I have full turbo back no cats and the mil elim has benn on for about 3 months with no problems

Get the CEL checked.
It might be the MIL isnt installed properly, or you might have another issue.
I kept throwing a CEL and getting it deleted until i realized i had an unplugged Sensor.

well could anybody inform me on what the proper installation is. I have it hooked up to the blue and white wire I beleive. And then there are two other black wires. Is this correct?

bump for proper installation of the MIL Eliminator directions.
The combo of this How-To & the instructions Apex provided should be all you will need.

thats correct. Looking at the instructions infront of me, it says blue wire to black wire of Mil and white wire to grey wire of Mil.

Did you connect both grey wires on one side of the MIL towards the connector plug...?

would the car run like s*** if I put straight 2.5 inch exhaust with no cats without getting the o2 eliminator or would the light just come on and it would run the same?

Youd get a CEL, but the car would run fine.
Someone said the car would run in limp mode, but theres no truth in it that I know of.

it WILL run in "safe" mode, it will throw more fuel, u'll get bad gas milage

i'm pretty sure it's faulty MIL eliminator.
have someone check it, or order a new one

P.S. make sure your connections are good. how did u connect your MIL?
i used stereo crimp connectors........did 4 cars that way, all holding up well

Okay, help out a n00b- What does MIL stand for? I think I have everything else figured out now.

Does anyone have a link to a site other than Apex's MIL eliminators?? It seems that the majority, if not all of us that are having problems(I've gone through 2 already) have come from APEX. Not that I'm knocking Ben for anything. He's been a great guy to deal with. And I'd never second guess buying stuff from him. Maybe these things just aren't working though.
On a side note, mine doesn't stay on 100% of the time. The last one I had eventually got that way, so I'm sure this one will too.

all u guys whos CEL eliminators go bad, where and how do u secure your O2 sensor wire.......especially the part where u tapped in with eliminator?
maybe it's the heat that makes it go bad........
i had to re-rout mine arround the DP, i also drilled 4 little holes in the second splash guard and routed my O2 wire/sensor arround the edge of it (securing the wire with heatproof zip ties).......thus placing it further away from the turbo and DP.

......just a though

I've done the MIL eliminator a few different ways...First I just spliced the wires together and heatshrunk them. CEL came on, and I figured one of the wires came loose. I took it all apart, and checked it, and everything was okay. Soldered it back together, and had the same CEL. Got a new MIL eliminater, soldered it, and it's still coming on. My guess is it's the O2 sensor which I will be swapping out this weekend. I didn't have to reroute it though, Vic. The O2 sensor bung in the APEX DP is in the same location as the stock DP. I'm still using the little plastic clip to hold the sensor wire away from the DP. It's not touching anything, or any closer to the heat than when it was completely stock.

hmm, yeah.....sounds like a faulty o2 sensor.
sux man......puts u out of almost $100

i was geting like 13 mpg when i went catless before i put the MIL in, now that i got it in it works fine and i get about 25-30

The chances are that you did not solder properly...Are you sure you placed it properly?

If you need..i have a mil eliminator..that's custom..every one who has used it..has had no problems what so ever!

You guys have to be installing these things the wrong way.I have the first one on a MSP and it is still kicking like 10K miles later. No PROBS at all EVER!I think you need to re-check which way you installed it.If you install it backwards ,it wont work.
And also,APEX does NOT manufacture this MIL eliminator,Pony Express does. They make them for all kinds of cars. The one being used on the MSP is actually the one that WAS used for a WRX.oUR CARS USE THE SAME STYLE O2.
If you follow the instuctions to the T,then you wont have any probs.Did you install it in the O2 wiring or actually splice it into the car harness?

Not flaming you Dr.Sound, but that is not true in my experience. I ran without the MIL eliminator hooked up for weeks, and the only down side was the CEL (MIL) came on.

The second O2 sensor is used to compare the outputs pre and post cat to make sure that emission system is working. Now, if you run without the second O2 sensor installed, you may go in to limp mode. I had mine installed, just not with a MIL eliminator.

I'm going on 6k miles with mine installed (soldered per instructions) and have had no problems at all.
