Mid Pipe vs Down Pipe replacement: Which is better?

I looked at Apex and their down pipe connects after the turbo and after the cats. A mid pipe connects from the down pipe to after the cats.

Does it really make much of a difference to replace the down pipe right after the turbo versus just doing the super easy swap of a mid pipe?

If you're looking for some extra power but nothing special I'd say the ApexMotorsports downpipe is plenty. If you think you'll get greedy with power, get the full S-pipe replacement though. GHL is having intro pricing still. The difference will be well worth it.

Now you're telling me to replace the full s-pipe!

I'm really looking for the best value to eliminate one of the cats. Don't see t0o many 4 bangers with 2 cats...

So my question still stands about replacing just the mid pipe or does the down pipe replacement blow the mid pipe only away...

the ghl setup eliminates the two stock cats with one hi-flow, i believe. i don't know what your budget is, but their tru turboback is a really great deal for the money, and will yield to significant gains.

if the budget is tight, go with the apex pipe.

drew.

10-12whp for a catless Apex pipe and well... more with a catted turboback system like iON or GHL offers. I think the iON system netted around 20+whp on stock boost for Turbo Magazine. The GHL system will yield similar gains.

It depends on cost and power plans.

GO WITH THE MID PIPE THERE IS NO CONSIDERABLE GAINS FROM THE DOWN PIPE
A COMPANY IN CANADA TUNE SPEED PROTAGES AND THEY KNOW THE CAR INSIDE AND OUT IF YOU WANT SOME INFO I can obtian it for you I order there turbo kit upgrade for a friend. JOSH EDO Performance.

I have no hard evidence to prove this... just logic.

If there is no appreciable gain to the bend on the Apex DP, why does HiBoost make just the bend? They have a cast iron (I think) bend which they have dyno proven to make power and boost earlier.

i have found good gains with the hiboost jpipe and the MAM mid pipe (the jpipe on a MSP is the same as the P5 which is to small IMO) i sell them both as a package deal

I love my apex pipe, it was night and day, and a huge difference between stock with cats and going catless. My boost also jumped to 12psi from 9, but even without the increased boost the difference is noticeable.

not ALOT but it will make a difference. not a difference a 'normal' driver will see.....if you are concerned with emission, go high flow it not the go CATLESS defiantely!!!

I went catless, but kept the stock pipe to put in for emissions testing. It takes all of about 30 minutes to switch the pipe out.

but what if u get pulled over and the cop decides to look under the car and doesnt see a cat

sorry for the thread jack...

are all the chicks in cali as hot as the one in your avatar?
