Michigan Dealer Reviews

-Dealer Name: Crippen Mazda (Crippen Auto Mall)
-Location (City): Lansing
-Reason for Dealer Work: just routine maintenance and two CELs
-Solution: no issues
-Cost (if not warranty related): N/A
-Person(s) that you talked to: Mazda service manager (don't remember his name, Jim or John, I think)

I don't really have much to say about Crippen. The sales experience was fine (not the best I've had, which was at Signature Ford in Perry, MI when I bought my 2001 Focus ZX3, and their service department was by far the best, too). I've never had anything significant go wrong with my Mazda3s 4-door in 95,000 miles, so all I can say is that oil changes are done with no issues, and the two CELs I had while under warranty were handled fine, as well. I'd recommend them for people looking to buy a Mazda. They also sell Volvos and GMC, and I think maybe one other GM brand.

-Dealer Name: Ferndale Mazda (Metro)
-Location: Ferndale, MI
-Reason for Dealer Work: Purchasing!
-Solution: Keys to a '07 Mazdaspeed6
-Cost: $29,195
-Person(s): LaMark Holley and service manager Mark Tyza.

Both very helpful and easy to contact on a daily basis. I actually kept in touch by email for a few days because I work at Audi and couldn't be making phone call during business hours :)
Purchase went very well with out any snafus.

yea i bought from gorno mazda to, they got me on the etching fee lol, but my sales was nawasha she was real nice and everything went fine, rick was cool to, i have only been there once for warranty work and they didnt care about my mods exhaust, intake, springs they didnt even mention em

UPDATE: I filled out the survey that they sent me about Gorno, basically saying that I wouldn't buy from them again. Apparently they didn't like that too well. I was being honest with them, and I guess they got on the sales woman's s*** about it.

Michigan Car Wash Reviews

I'm only posting this here for now cuz the stupid bb won't let me post a new thread for some reason...

So... since we have a dealer review, I thought it might be nice to see where people have good and bad experiences with car washes, especially now that it's winter.

I'll go first.

DO NOT GO:

Car Wash on West side of Inkster Rd., just north of Cherry Hill in Garden city.
(will edit in the name later)

Experience:
I thought it was a good car wash. It's brand new and for $5 you get a wash, underbody flush, tire/wheel stuff and all the waxes and crap plus a hand wipe down after the wash. I went there two times and was happy with the wash I received.
HOWEVER
The third time I went there, their brushes ripped off my rear wiper and cracked the wiper arm. When I drove back around and talked to the manager, he basically told me "tough s***". (pissed)
Not gonna go there any more.

I'd walk around to the front and if there isn't a sign saying they're not responsible for it, then start some major s*** with them. Usually the place I go to has a disclaimer saying no "loose this" no" blah blah that". bad man!

The sign says "mirrors, antennas and non-factory equipment". Nothing about wipers. If I had more free time, I'd pursue it further. Instead I'll just have to be satisfied with not giving them any more business and putting out the word.

If you ask me, I'd MAKE time for that.

Unfortunately that's how these people make money. Especially in that area..

*shrug* The wiper is $17 (ripoff) and the arm is $25 (and still technically works). It would take about two hours for me to make that much money and it would take a LOT more than just two hours of my time to bother screwing around with them.

I may submit a complaint to the BBB, though.

I hear ya, it's just still a shame. In my mind, business ethics are completely absent, especially when it comes to homegrown/American business. And we wonder why people shop else where for their goods (ie. foreign vs. domestic).

I'm so much more enthusiast about my future MS3 purchase, vs another boring, improperly built domestic.

Anyhow, that's neither here nor there.

Suburban Mazda in Farmington Hills has been very accomodating and helpful throughout this entire process. The car should be here by the end of March so all i'm doing is waiting now!

So, since I'm new to the Mazda world, I've got a bit left on my manufacturers warranty, where around the Novi area would be the best dealer to take it too? I see a couple of complaints about the one in Farmington Hills... Any other good recommendations/

You have seen complaints about Suburban? The only problem I have had there was when the service writer called me to change the power steering fluid in my 04 Mazda3 when it only have 20k on it. I got a free oil change out of it though when I called the Service Manager to tell him.

bought our 2005 mazda 6 from ralph thatyer no complaints all went well. brian was a huge help no longer there though.

-Dealer Name: Ferndale Mazda
-Location: Ferndale (Woodward)
-Reason for Dealer Work: no work was done
-Solution: NA
-Cost (if not warranty related): my time
-Person(s) that you talked to: overweight service manager who refused to make eye contact

I visited this dealer when I was car shopping, but have never had service done here. Since I live near Ferndale I took my MS3 in this week for several small issues: a rear clunk (RSB?), seatbelt squeak (Suburban of Farmington lubed it last year, but it's back), windshield cowl rattle, and intermittent auto-down function of driver's window. These are common issues so I was hoping they'd perhaps know of a fix and be able to set me up quickly. At least I wanted to get the torque checked on the RSB end links. Of course, the flaky service guy told me he couldn't have the car in without observing all the issues, despite me telling him they're intermittent and difficult to reproduce. He insisted I bring it in next week, first thing in the morning when it's cool and the noises are most likely to occur. He suggested we drive down some horrible torn up roads to listen for the rear clunk; he probably doesn't know the purpose of a sta bar. They don't open until 7:30 and I start work at 7. I don't plan on making the appt. :P

Any service managers who are car guys in the area?

Good luck with that. I could have told you Ferndale Mazda was for the s***. I wanted my oil changed on day (in my old 04 mz3) and they told me I would have to leave it over night. I laughed and burned out in their parking lot. Not good at all. They have that whole service aread crammed into that little building.
I can tell you though they are going to want to hear or see the conditions you are talking about. The seat belt thing everyone has encountered and goes away with time, mine is finally gone. The windshield problem I have never heard of and the rear anti sway making noise is common but thought when you put on an aftermarket not a stock. Do you have a Torque wrench? You could check them yourself.
