MI Fun Drive IV-'08 - Sept 13

Some how I knew this was going to happen:) Haha you both have the same personality's like Bill said I also know a little of you both and trust me you both are good people and great drivers:D

So who is looking forward to this run. Kane will there be anymore before winter? Hell I would be up for a rally run after a snowstorm if anyone else would be interested. (Not a fast run just one though alot of snow:D)

I'm in for a "snow stage", got some great in-car video of driving in a foot of powder when I lived in Erie,PA in my 04 STi. I can also put my video camera in my 05 if you want some backup.

If we do a snow run, especially in deep powder, I'm taking the Blazer!

I'm new to video editing but it would be cool to put together a video of the fun run with video from all the different cars. I'm rigging up a video cam in my car for the run so this will be my first experience as far as editing.

i dont think I'll be in for any snow runs... Unless I pick up a new winter vehicle like this: (skip the first 50sec)

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/P-5Te9XUMzg&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/P-5Te9XUMzg&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

so do u have 2 sti's? or u have an 05 now and had an 04?

I had a pretty built 04 WRB STi (~428 AWHP on 94 pump) till it got totalled by a big MI deer in the fall of 06. Did a complete 360, landed on all four wheels & drove it home, windshield didn't crack, airbags didn't go off, & my Compomotive TH3 rally wheels kept the flat tires on the rims. I knew it was messed up, but it was dark & thought "OK, this is fixable" till I pulled it in the garage & said "Holy SH*T". I slid on the roof far enough to wear a pretty big hole in the sheet metal. It was low speed since the road was pretty curvy & wet w/ leaves in spots & there's no run off on either side. Steep uphill bank one side & long steep downhill bank into a river on the other. The deer came down off the bank & hit me & sent me into a skid & I had a split second to decide which way to try and correct the skid. I picked towards the uphill & almost had it saved, till I hit the leaves & went into snap oversteer & up onto the bank at an angle & then I was just along for the ride. Got lotsa pics of my baby for both insurance & personal reasons, along w/ a lot of shiny, new parts in my basement. I then bought the 05 I have now which is 100% stock w/ only 20k miles, but I'm getting that itch again!

I will say this though, these things are one tough son's of b*tches & the car saved my life.

Wow, sounds pretty crazy. I've heard a few stories and seen pics of one particular person who lost control flipped their wrx ended up in a mud field with 3 wheels and drove it out, think he was in AA. Those must be tough cars. I'd wanted once since 01 but by the time I could afford a new car I ended up with the MS3.

Just wondering if anybody could describe the route in terms of multiple way points I could enter in my nav unit? Like this:

1) 50 E North Territorial Rd, Whitmore Lake, MI => START
2)

10) 11930 Whitmore Lake Rd, Whitmore Lake, MI => END

All I need are the street/road & city. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think a nav unit will work the route is like a maze. I'm not to familiar with nav so. . .
Don't worry about getting separated we keep good care of each other.

There are 40+ road changes on the route AND it's somewhat secret to keep it from being over-used. Obviously we can't stop you from plotting it while you're driving it but we don't send it out to anybody.

Oh man forecast is not looking good at all

Saturday: Periods of showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. High near 76. South wind between 5 and 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.

*shrug* I'm still in but if we want to cancel, just let me know.

I just got back in to town and i'm not expecting anyone to actually read this yet. I'll be up Matt, i'll call you in the morning but we'll see how the weather is. It may not be worth actually doing, we could maybe just go to Bill's later on at night like the original plan was after the run. The rain may not be worth it.

I'm still in for tomorrow. Dave is as well, but he's a little drunk last I spoke with him.

My agenda for tomorrow is:
7:50 - Walgreens at Telegraph & Eureka
8:05 - leave Walgreens
8:30 - Ikea in Canton to pick up Raychel
9:00 - arrive at Roadhouse

I hope the rain doesn't scare more off. We've ran it once in the rain, you just have to step up the safety factor a notch or two. Some of us have ran it in the rain, it's not bad at all.

It's not so much the rain that's holding me back now. It's the fact i've sat in a car for 3 hours at a time now for the past 2 days, the funeral was really difficult, and I just got back from it tonight around 1am, so i'm a little exhausted physically and mentally.

I'd still be down to hang at night when you guys go out to Bill's afterwards. I'll just wake up and call Matt in the morning and see what's up.

Totally understandable. As far as I know we're still Go for tomorrow, and hopefully if you don't make it to the run you'll be around later in the day.

My car is dirty BTW, I'm not worried about washing it since we're gonna get hit again tomorrow with rain. The front wheels are a nice gunmetal color.
