Metro Detroit garage/lift rental?

Hey all-

This is gonna sound like an odd question, and the answer is probably no but...
Are there any garages in the metro Detroit area that rent lift time or space? I want to put my SRI and rear sway bar on before I drive down to New Orleans for Mardi Gras on the 21st.

I have a garage, but it's packed full of s**** and it's too cold to clean it to gain space to work on the P5...

(cheers),
joe

Well, the SRI should be quick, so you can probably just do that in your driveway.
For the sway bar, it would probably cost more to rent a space than it would to just have somebody install the bar for you. Call around to places like Discount Tire and Belle Tire and ask them how much they would charge you to install it.

A rear swaybar isn't all that hard to change either. If you have a decent floor jack it can be done in about an hour. That's assuming you can get those god aweful POS endlinks off. Like Goldwing said. If any place did let you rent lift space, they would probably charge you more money than it would to just have someone install it. I can't really imagine any place would allow you to do something like that though. Too much risk of liability on their part. You don't need a lift to install the SRI. That can be done with the car just sitting in the driveway.

Oh yeah... and speaking of those damn end links... buy new ones.

If you've never had yours off, they'll have to be cut off.

You've been warned.

Too bad the weather is going to s*** this weekend or I'd offer to help you out. (shrug)

Yep, that's what I had to do when I had my new springs and shocks put on. Mazda used a really poor design on them. I had to have someone torch them off.

I figured as much, but it was worth a shot... I did get the SRI on last weekend while it was warm (well, warm-ish), and I'm going to do the swaybar tomorrow (Saturday) since it'll be dry & in the 50's.

I got the AWR 19mm kit with adjustable endlinks, and I've had the swaybar off before, so I'm hoping it goes fairly smoothly.

Thanks for the offer of help GW2000, I appreciate it. I don't think I'll have a problem (knock on wood)

A little tip when you put the new swaybar on. Use some blue locktite on the endlink nuts. It'll keep them from rusting on. It would be a bummer if you ever went to take it back off and had to have someone cut those nice awr's. Make sure you torque them down, go drive around a little bit, and then re-check them after they settle. I had to re-tighten mine like 2 or 3 times after I had new struts put on.

Thanks for that... I picked up some blue a few months ago for something else, so I still have some left.

Blue lock-tite?? Are you insane? You don't want to put ANYthing on those that will make them more difficult to get off! (attn)

If you're going to put anything on them, put anti-seize on them.

yeah I dont see why you would want lok-tite on there, but the blue stuff is not that strong anyway compared to the red irrc

but i would go with anti-seize also
