Taking car in monday morning for them to check the clutch. Called the other day and told the service advisor it was hard to engage/disengage and asked about a tsb. He looked it up and said he didnt see anything. Wanted to check it out monday and see if it needed the clutch replaced or any other parts. So I will let them drive it and see what they say. Im taking a copy of the tsb if they try to bs me telling me there isnt one. Only 3000 miles left on the warranty. Wish me luck![]()
I will be removing the short shifter, shifter weight, front engine mount, rear engine mount, forge bpv, and the CP-E nano. Looks like I will have a busy day tomarrow.
I like the spin on filter. Makes oil changes super easy. Install was kinda a PIA but wasnt as bad as the front engine mount install. That I will not be taking off for the dealer.
Its a go!
Took it to the dealer this morning and was kinda slick about it. I called last week and talked to a guy that couldnt find the tsb. So I went in there this morning and talked to a girl and told her my name and that I was here for them to see about doing the tsb and showed her the paper and she put the number of the tsb into the computer. She was cool. She said "this used to be my husbands car" Which is true becuase the previous owner works in the parts department in another building.
She asked if it had less than 50k miles and I said yes 47k. So I handed her the keys and they pulled it back. After and hour and a half another service advisor came to me and says we have special ordered all the parts and that we will give you a call when they come it. We will need the car for 2 days and that they would supply a loaner car for free under warranty.
So I was excited that it was that easy. Even with 47k miles and the short shifter they didnt hesitate. The guy who drove it out of the service shop actually stalled it a couple of times lol.
Its not the same clutch they replace it with. Its a "modified" clutch. Also they change out the pedal from one with 2 springs to one with only 1. Never heard anything about it being weaker. Only time will tell.
I know the dealer can adjust the pedal to make it lower but its still the same affect of how it is which is off-on. Atleast for me. I adjusted it every which way and putting it back the way it was from the factory seems best.
Taking my car in monday morning to have the TSB done. I will let you guys know how it turns out.
Actually it all depends on the category your car falls under.....
Type A clutch and Type B clutches are different..... Type B does not have the pedal replaced, only the Type A does....
and to answer the guy's other question, they do not adjust the "height" of the pedal at all...... that's a custom thing done/made in the HOW-TO, it's still set at "factory" height, but the clutch grabs a lot easier and even beginner manual drivers won't stall it as much as they would with the non-TSB clutch.
So its not a weaker clutch than the one that we originally had? Has anyone had any problems with their clutch burning out after they got the TSB done? or are their any adverse effects of getting the clutch TSB done?
Mine is in the shop as we speak. This rental car makes me miss the speed6. No satellite radio! Manual windows and side mirrors. Also no turbo! Its a red 06 mazda 3 sedan. This thing has some torque when taking off but once accelerating on the interstate this thing is weak. Rides damn good though. Looked down and didnt realize I was going 90. lol
