I went to the dealership yesterday. They gave me no trouble with the TSB. they said okay and said that the parts would be ready before the end of the week. PLUS: they washed my car too :)
congrats... Wish me luck I am going next Monday.

Had mine done on my (new to me) car last week. I only drove with the old style "type A" clutch for a couple of weeks. All I can say is "wow"! A huge difference in the drivability of the car, especially in traffic. If you are new to the speed6 world like me, get it done if you can!

They had my car for 3 days, also had the upgraded fuel pump installed too. It definitely runs smoother when cold.

Upgraded fuel pump?? Is the a tsb for this?
They called me today and left me a message sayin it was finished. So im going early in the morning to pick it up. Hopefully they did an alignment afterwards. I forgot to mention when I dropped it off monday morning the guy that drove it out of the service bay stalled it 3 times in a row! I was like. you need some help? Cant wait to see how this new clutch feels.

I complained of hesitation when cold- he said there was a tsb for an upgraded fuel pump. I'll look at the invoice and see what it says.

Good luck with the car tomorrow- I think you'll be pleasantly surprised..

Just got the car back. The clutch is much different. No more kick to the pedal. I am still trying to relearn driving this thing. Im used to the clutch engaging when the pedal starts to spring back. Now that theres no springing its hard for me to adjust where it engages.

But overall the shifts are better but 1st-2nd still akward. Downshifting is much better. I was looking at the pedal and I dont know if its a new one or the old one? It still has 2 springs.
They didnt do an alignment either :(

I don't think they were supposed to do a wheel alignment as part of it

and dude the page i linked you has all available TSBs

There's a TSB for the upgraded high pressure fuel rail... for lack of power under heavy acceleration, I'm trying to get my dealer to do it but they are pissing me off, I'm considering going to Gunther and asking them cause I'm getting tired of my car bogging and then kicking in when i shift from 3rd to 4th when trying to pass on the highway (and it sometimes does it from 2nd to 3rd).

I need to get the transfercase and pressure rail TSB performed.

I've noticed my 1st to 2nd is still the same after the clutch i heard that's fixed with a front motor mount? i dunno

I also know that sometimes when i shift from 1st to 2nd it'll be engaged in 2nd but the car just revs up, it's like it's not linked... and if you push on the shifter it won't budge from 2nd until you depress the clutch. no other gear does that.

Gunther wouldn't look at it either, the service rep told me to wait til it starts doing it more... well now it is and my warranty is set to expire in January too.

And in case anyone's firewall at work is blocking them

TSB 01-022-08

Subject: ROUGH IDLE, LACK OF POWER, AND/OR MIL ON WITH DTC P2177/P2187 (FUEL SYSTEM LEAN)
Bulletin No:
01-022/08
Last Issued:
04/02/2008
Vehicles: 2006-2007 Mazdaspeed6 vehicles
Description: Due to low fuel pressure at the high-pressure fuel pump, some vehicles may experience the following:
  • Rough idle, stall, and/or hesitation under cold conditions.
  • Intermittent lack of power during acceleration when the engine gets hot.
  • MIL turns on with DTC P2177/P2187 (fuel system too lean at off idle).
This is caused by a delayed fuel pressure build-up from the high pressure fuel pump. There are two main reasons for this:
  1. The drive current from the PCM is not enough for some fuel pumps.
  2. Some fuel pumps have slower response.

Yup,

just checked my invoice and that was the TSB done for my fuel pump- works great.

BOT- Qwik 6- glad you like the clutch- you'll be used to it in no time (drive).

FWIW- my car was not aligned and still tracks straight and true, just like I gave it to them.

Ok so im getting used to it. Practiced a bit tonight since there wasnt much traffic. And im loving this clutch. Shifts are so smooth and precise. No more jerking the car back and forth. going in tomarrow morning to a local wheel shop for an alignment. The front drivers wheel is way off and has negative camber.

Also did anyone notice the steering wheel is hard to move in an out after this? I noticed this earlier that its very hard to pull out.

I don't have that issue, maybe you should take it back and address it.

Mine had to be re-aligned after the clutch was replaced. The steering wheel was about 15 degrees to the left of straight (but the car did drive straight). I brought it back to the dealer and they took care of everything for me.

(nana) Service manager is checking to get the parts needed to replace the type A components. Will call me to schedule a day to replace it... It's about time!

2006 w/31k Purchased with 8.5k and complained about the clutch since 10k

I am going to have them check it out in the upcoming weeks. I hope that they realize that there is a problem with it and don't try to play it off like its fine.

Guys, I just spoke with my dealer about this TSB. They claim it's classified as an "adjustment" therefore if I want it done, it would be $1900. Per warranty, "adjustments" are only allowed for 12 months/12,000 miles, and I am at 27,000 miles.

Is this what you guys are hearing as well?

Thanks,

Brian

depends on the dealerships. I have read about people with 30-50k getting this fix done under warranty

My service manager said since it is a bulletin he would just order the stuff, it is now installed and he called me asking me to call mazda and explain why I was not satisfied with the car before the replacement because apparently he got his hand smacked by mazda for replacing mine after the 12k point.

My left leg loves the new clutch in the city now! :)
