Mazdaspeed6 Clutch Fix TSB

I agree. Get it checked out now while you can. My dealer tried telling me for 20 minutes that there was no TSB... but then magically found it.

Correct me if I'm wrong though. Wouldn't this particular TSB fall under the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty and not necessarily the more limited bumper to bumper? (I'll ask when I pick my car up today).

Here is a link for the other TSB's. 5 total for 06's and 5 for 07's.

http://www.allworldauto.com/tsbs/mazda_mazdaspeed6_technical_service_bulletins_126-34590-1.html.

It's not really detailed (not listing VIN's and whatnot) but it does list the TSB reference number so your dealer can't claim ignorance.

Happy Hunting

the fuel rail is only if the MIL light comes on and stays on.... I have that one, I tried to get it done, that's my best explanation for the hesitation, the high pressure fuel rail isn't working right...... the combo sensor I believe has something to do with the traction control/AWD...... because my car had the traction loss light pop up (where the car has the skid marks behind it icon) and stayed on even when I was parked.... and the service guy told me it was a combo something and his tech found a TSB for it.

Most cases are, TSBs aren't recalls, so it's the dealer's discretion to do whatever they want..... my service guy said he couldn't do the fuel rail recall until the MIL came out, but when it did he would jump right on it for me and made sure they did it (he's a cool guy).

So that's factory speak for CEL (check engine light)??

I honestly have NO idea, lol. Ask the dealer what the MIL is when you go to pick up your car (hand)

Also because they made the speed6s in 2006 and 2007 they never recieved the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. At least that's what I was told. But that was back in the day by a Salesman (who are usually retards) so I suppose I should ask my service dealer... but the clutch isn't part of the powertrain warranty, that's why the clutch itself only has a 12K mile warranty. So some dealers are giving people crap about being over 12K miles and getting their clutch TSB done.

yes. MIL = Malfunction Indicator Light
CEL = Check Enginge Light.

same thing.

Had a MIL/CEL go off in my wife's jeep yesterday. All I had to do was turn the key 3 times and the code displayed in place of the odometer. Why can't Mazda do something like that?

That would definitely be great.... but maybe Jeep has it trademarked? :( I wonder if the DashHawk displays the codes for the check engine light?

If that was the case I would be willing to pay the cost of a new clutch if they would work with me on a TSB.

i'm confused by that, are you saying pay the cost of the parts and have them cover the labor? Never happen.

Hey peeps...

Just picked up my baby yesterday... and what a differance!!! I can actually get on it, shift and not feel like I'm seperating the tranny from the engine. How remarkable.

And I seriously think the dealers that are giving you guys s*** are on crack. If you think about it, the 50k warranty is bumper to bumper. I can see the 12k thing applying if there weren't a TSB out for it... but MAZDA says there is a problem within those VIN's. This isnt a case of one persons car getting one defective clutch, it's a whole series. You guys may be victims of service guys that just arent listening to what you are saying. They hear 'clutch' ask your mileage then 'oh it's over 12k you're out of warranty'. Obviously Im not there but I know how people can be when they aren't exactly trying to go out of their way. Especially with something not well known like this issue.

Maybe I have a super cool service dept or something. But ive got 15k on mine and you know no dealer is going to do warranty work that they wont get reimbursed for from Mazda. And you know they report the mileage everytime you get serviced.

I would call and press the issue (politely) escalate to managment if necessary, and if you have to call Mazda directly.

I even mentioned the other 4 TSB's and service said to bring it back and they would check em all out at the same time.... so again, maybe my dealer is just super cool.

Thats my 2 cents....peace.

Yeah I think your salesman was a moron... my service dept said specifically I ahd 100k powertrain.... you've got me wondering though...im gonna double check when i take it back for the other TSB's.

Ive only got 8k on my 07 speed 6. Its got one of the faulty clutches. How should I approach the issue at the dealership? Just call them and tell them my clutch is hard to maneuver? I want to make sure I do everything right so I dont waste 2 days removing / installing mods sigh. Also what about the TSB #. Should I bring that to the dealer so they dont try to bull me and play dumb? Im kinda scared becuase those guys at the dealer can say whatever they feel like in regards to the clutch. They can just pretend it works fine and ill be there screwed. I looked at the website posed in post # 421 but I didn't really find a TSB for the faulty clutch.

The reason why ive never asked more into it is because everytime the dealer fixes my car they cause another problem. They replaced my rear axles and dented the differential plate and a week later I noticed oil dripping on the garage floor. So god knows what all they would mess up on it if they have to remove and replace all the parts for the TSB.

There is however a new dealer that just opened up so ill give it another chance. The only thing im scared about is I did a spin on oil conversion and I hope they dont void the warranty.

Have the TSB ready as a last resort...but let them call the shots for starters. Tell them your wife/gf is having trouble driving it and you feel its difficult to shift from 1st to 2nd smoothly because the clutch is real hard to engage. If in your conversation you get to the point where they insist that all MS6s have "performance" clutches explain to them you've driven other "performance" cars recently and none behave like this. If they still insist that is the way they are and they can't do anything about it...that is your queue to pull out the TSB and explain otherwise. I advise you leave this to the end because no one likes people to tell them how to do their job and if they are already aware of the TSB you'll look like a schmuck tossing it in their face without first explaining the problem.

Is it a bad idea to tell them about the tons of other people in this forum with the same problems??

Yes because then they might start coming here to check for people having performance mods on their cars (or might even mistake someone for someone else) and not do the work or void someone's warranty.

If it comes to the point, just tell them you have friends who have had the same issues and have had the TSB performed on their car.

Did they tell you if it was Mazda warranty, or extended warranty?(freak)

I have 31k on my '06 Speed6, and am having the new clutch and assembly put in next week. I have had issues with the idling, and the car stalling at a stop but am quite used to the "grabby" clutch, so we will see. They are covering the whole cost under warranty, and no issues with them denying any coverages. Any car with the A type clutch should be covered regardless of mileage as long as it hasn't exceeded the 50k bumper to bumper warranty.

So I really don't feel like reading through 30 pages but occasionally I can smell my clutch after driving even if I didn't slip the clutch once or drive hard at all... Could this error be responsible?

I'm used to the clutch now so I don't really feel like going in to getting it fixed but I definetly feel that the clutch release is uneven (so much so that I know have issues driving other standards now that I'm used to this) and all my friends agree, is it worth it?

If I just got an aftermarket clutch once the warranty runs up would that fix my problem or could be more complex?
