MazdaSpeed3 can't be test driven???

same thing happened when me and my bro went to go look at the evo X when it first came out
went to the dealership and asked for a test drive, the dude was like "nah we dont do test drives with the evo, what kinda car do u drive?" and my brother lied sayin he used to have an evo and he wanted to compare the 2

but he said they have a break in period thats why they dont do it....doesnt every car?

I had no difficulties test driving an MS3, even though I just walked in to the dealership (was having my Saturn serviced across the street). Note that this was an '08 Sport with 8,000 miles on it. I'm not sure if they would've let me drive the one I ended up buying three weeks later (with 10 miles on it).

When I first test drove my car I was actually gonna go with a mazda3 5 door and they had mine on the show room floor. I was like how expensive is that car out there and what is the deal with that one. Then he told me all about it and I was like wow, thats hecka cool. I was like can I test drive it, and he was like sure. Took it out on the road and he told me to get on it so I did and it brought a smile to my face. I was like I'll take it

Like, no way!

I just got back from my second dealership and as the title says, I'm a little bummed about not being able to test drive the car. Both times I went in and checked out the car and the salespeople told me they don't allow test drives, thus the reason it was in the showroom. They said they see no reason for it. I was like WTF, what do you mean you see no reason for it?

Now, its not like I'm an 16 year old kid. I went in, asked knowledgeable questions about the car, made it clear I was a serious potential buyer, and politely asked to test drive it. I'm 35 years old, rock solid job, spotless driving history, excellent credit, and I can't test drive a Mazda??? No offense, but its not like its a Viper or something crazy. One of the salesguys further states that another reason for no test drives is this kind of engine needs to be broken in properly. I'm like, dude, I just drove in with a 2005 GTO, I know a little bit about breaking in a high horsepower car here.

Is this typical of most Mazda dealerships with the Speed line? Oh well, I'm off to one more dealership in the area that has one. Wish me luck.

I completely agree with you, that dealership or that sales person was probably profiling you. I have overheard sales managers make that comment to salesmen while they appear to go inside and get the keys.

A reputable dealership that believes in its products and customer service will most certainly let you test drive a vehicle even if it is for a short period of time. You should post the name of the dealership and sales person that kinds of behavior is unacceptable.

***Now if the car was in the show room I could understand if that was the only one, but I am sure there had to be another one on the lot. Just go and buy it from another car dealership and then drive back there and find the salesman and tell him he made a big mistake***

Never even crossed my mind that they wouldn't let me test drive the MS3. In fact, I told the guy I was interested in the Sport, but the first keys he found were for a GT, so that's what we drove (probably just an upsell effort). And break-in? HA! The salesman encouraged me to get into it a little & feel the power.

The only car I was ever told I could not test drive was a Bentley. Which was fine, since I was there to buy a MINI, and the salesman & I were just killing time poking around the Bentley. He did go to his sales manager & get permission to SIT in the Bentley. Soft, smooth leather... like buttah. That car was so expensive, it had a showroom and 2 salespeolpe to itself.

I was at the Mercedes dealer and there was an SLR on the show room floor. I asked the sales guy to pop the hood, but he said he did not have permission for that! He then went off and about 15 minutes later, a guy in a white coverall came out and popped the hood for me to look at the engine. No, I didn't get to sit in it either.

I had no problem test driving a MS3 at multiple dealers, but I did go by the Evo dealer and the sales guy told me I could not drive one without filling out a credit app, so I filled one out. After they checked my credit, the SM came over and told me I could now test drive one. They were acting like the Evo was an Enzo, and they had probably 10 on the lot, with no customers on a Saturday afternoon. By the time he came over and told me I could drive one, I had changed my mind. I told the SM if the sales people were this unfriendly, the service department must really suck. I told him to tear up my credit info, and not to call me, and I left. I eventually bought the MS3, and the rest is history. The thing is I might have bought the Evo if the sales people had not acted so smug and superior. I understand their concern with people just taking the car for a joy ride, but I was a serious buyer, and it was the poor attitude that turned me off.

P.S. - I am happy with the MS3 selection

I have heard the same story at multiple EVO dealerships, I dont know why they dont have a test model for select customers to drive, most major dealerships have one version of the car that they do that with so they do not deny potential customers the opportunity to test drive a sought after vehicle.

With Mitsubishis horrible track record for quality and customer service they should be happy people are actually visiting them at all.

when i pirchased min e in 07 they never asked me ne questions i liked it and asked to drive it he got the keyz n i fell in luv almost lost it in 2nd(didnt realize power)got bak in the lot said i want it BTW im only 24 3,000 down 460mnthly had 2eat 6,000 from old car overall best thing i ever did.

It's amazing in the current sales environment they are selling any at all. Who is buying a car right now with all this stuff going on with the financial and credit markets? Give them a few more months of these lousy sales numbers and there will be quite a few less dealerships to choose from.

The whole "This car is special" mantra will end quickly. It's a car, sure a quick one, but nothing that special.....

Wow...I was begged to take a test drive every time I walked into a dealer ...I test drove an EVO X, MS3, GTI, R32, TL-s, G35, Mugen Civic, WRX-STi and more...I ended up buying a black 2008.5 MS3 GT with Nav, Homelink, ect...
