consider upgrading to the EDM throttle body for better control of the beast!
the EDM throttle body is a progressive type (the USDM/JDM is linear) which is better for a high torque application... it opens slower at the lower range and then faster at the higher range... this allows for better low speed control and definitely easier launches... this is why we don't have europeans complaining about the low speed bucking problem that's common in the protege.... a progressive throttle body is a common mod for the high power domestic guys, for obvious reasons
you will need the matching EDM throttle cable too of course... and possibly the cable bracket also
if you want to port the throttle body, do so by flow testing it WITH the throttle plate CLOSED *before* doing any work to it... there will always be some air that goes past the cracks of the throttle plate... make note of those flow numbers as you will need to recalibrate the stopper screw to match those figures once you port it out, or you will NEVER have a properly working idle... the autoexe throttle body I have was done this way.... the labor time involved is why it is so expensive!
