Mazdaspeed 3 2007
Hey guys been awhile. I have been saving up some money and Im thinking of getting the Mazdaspeed CAI and exhaust. I am trying to get a guess of what the dealer might charge me for both installed. If anyone has called already and has an estimate I would appreciate it. I just trying to get an estimate so I dont go into my dealer and get low balled. Thanks guys

I've also heard $80/hour for labor from others on the forum.
IIRC, the CIA should take an amateur ~1.5 hours and the exhaust would take ~2.5 hours. Seems like the dealer should be able to get both on in 3 hours total (or less)... $240.

I'd say if you already have the car you might as well have them installed some where else (or do it yourself if you can). The warranty will be the same either way. The only advantages I can see (me no mechanic, me amateur) to having the dealer install them is for resale (and I'd imagine only some people would care) and if somehow one of the parts was not installed properly and caused something else on the car to break... unlikely scenario for these 2 parts IMO from the little I know about cars.

I figure you have your reasons for going with the Mazdaspeed parts, but from what I can tell; the MS catback is almost $200 more without any appreciable advantage over the other brands.

wtf? What do you mean the MSpeed CBE leaks? Has it happened to you?

Mine has been on for the past 5 thousand miles, and as long as you've installed it correctly, and used proper sealing, there shouldn't be any leaks.... unless there are gremlins somewhere?

Then again, you can't go wrong with the corksporsts' TBE. I'd choose a TBE over CBE for best performance gains. Although CBE ownser can always get the DP replacement with a hi-flo cat that is sold through CP-E which will eliminate one cat entirely.... but to have 700 bux laying around somewhere is a totally different story!

It bolts exactly as the stock one bolts. I've had mine for 10000 miles and it doesn't leak. The MS cat back is a nice piece albeit a pricey one.

Install of the exhaust AT the dealer ran me $180.

thats what my friend at protege garage told me, he said theres fitting issues, but hey, maybe there not, but at the cost of the ms cb u could get the turbo back from corksport for like 300 more

lol

he said she said...

The MSCBE works great. It does what its supposed to. Directs the exhaust flow to the back of the car and it sounds good doing it. Yes, there are other cat-backs out there, but for those that want to keep it MazdaSpeed, like myself and Swampy^^ and perhaps others, this is the way to go. Install is free if you know how to do it, and have the time to do it. But that 80 dollar figure an hour is about right. Here in Cali, the stealership charges 99 bux or so. Heh, save the 80 bux an hour, and buy yourself some good'ol tools, and do it yourself. You'll be surprised at how easy the install is.
