Mazdaspeed cams

I was wondering if anyone has the mazdaspeed cams, both intake and exhaust cams. I was looking on shaneracing.com and they have the set for 399 and the 19hp increase seems to be pretty good for the money. I also wanted to know how long it would take to istall and did anyone have them installed at a shop and how much was the install.
 
19 whp? Never heard that before. Also I though it was only one Mazdspeed cam, the others just Jspec.
 
i have both cams right now, they are very mild. the intake is the fs-ze cam and the ext one is the mazdaspeed ext cam. let me tell you they dont give 19hp at all!!!! thats b.s maybe 5-8 whp with both cams. the more bolt ons you have the more you'll get out of them. it makes the car pull smoother and harder in the upper rpm's 4000 and above.
i do think that the price you listed is high as hell for them! they used to be $300 or so, at that price i would look into getting some custom ones done! custom ones will give you some higher hp gains than these mild ones will for almost the same price, if not cheaper!:)

19 hp now way!!!! But I do love my cams and never regret getting. Then again, I have a different long term goal then most.
 
I never said 19 whp. I just stated what I saw on the site, but thanks for the replys guys, but how do you adjust your fuel regulator???
 
I have a question about them. Do they fit the MSP, and will there be any benifits from it? Or would I be better off staying stock? I don't want to go custom, because thats more trouble than I really want to go through, cause I would have to know the exact specs to get that done.
 
Just to add, I have the FS-ZE intake and the Mazdaspeed exhaust coms and love them. They are not that big of a gain, but worth it non-the-less. I had my dealer install them for $150 plus parts. :D
 
I have the cams....did the install myself, quite easy actually. As far as performance increase...I felt a bigger kick in butt dyno with the UR Crank Pulley, both pulley and cams combined makes the car a highway rocket, above 4500rpm she screams and pulls hard into the red, no downshifting needed...I know there is a lot of people who say the Crank Pulley is bad but I love it..had them on prev. cars and no problems..had this one on for about a year and no problem...wouldnt recomend it for the boosted guys but for the rest of us poor N/A guys I think they are one of the best bang for the buck mods available for the Slowtege! My 2 pennies.
 
They have been dyno proven to give more than 5-8hp.

The intake cam alone has been showing to give 10whp on the Probe, 626, MX-6. And 12whp on the Protege (same motor w/10 more hp).

I believe 19hp gain was shown on an MSP anyway.

(there are other posts about this by the way, might want to search for further info) And as posted before you can't get the Mazdaspeed exhaust cam anymore. A replica of that is being made however since you can not ge the original.

My intake cam is FS - HS and the exhaust cam id number has been ground out. I got the cams from www.srmotorsports.com Are these the right ones, I currently hope they are because they came to be $400!

The italicized part, does that mean that they do work on the MSP? Interesting, very interesting. It appears as though my plan is coming together nicely.

Well of course they work, it's the same motor...
 
Yeah i know, just wasn't sure if we already had the Cams, u know since they call them Mazdaspeed cams. Oh well, nothing is really what it seems anymore. I'm probably gonna be gettin' these for the ride by spring, maybe forged aswell, then some injectors at the same time, oone big install. Then the possibilities are endless, muwahahaha(thought) (laugh) (yippy) Can't wait, so happy, hehehehe

Neither of those cams (the J-Spec intake or Mazdaspeed exhaust) have been used in a U.S. car. The intake cam is just from the FS_ZE and the Mazdaspeed exhaust is out of the MSP (basically Japans MP3). The 'Mazdaspeed' high compression pistons and flywheel also come from the MSP motor.

Not always do different cams help on turbo applications. Take the Probe/MX-6/626/Millenia KLD motor. When you turbo those you don't you don't gain anything when using the Japanese spec KL_ZE cams. We are just lucky enough for them to work on our turbo cars I guess. :)
