mazdaspeed cai

went to the dealership today to see if theyd come down at all on the price of the intake, turns out my buddy got a job there and didnt even tell me! whatta douche.
anyways, he was able to get it for me for 260 bucks, but they had to order it, should be in later this week.
im super excited bout it!
so i just wanted to say thanks to everyone who posted bout theirs and did mini write ups bout it, they were tryin to charge me for 3 hours of labor. im like yea ok, ill just do it myself lol so thanks again!

thanks, i cant wait to get it in! although i think im gonna wait a lil bit till we have less snow up here, and i think im also gonna order the hydro shield for it too

Post some pics when you get it installed! I'm waiting to order one, but I can get it brand new for $210, so that should be a solid investment. Dealer by my house wants $375 and they won't warranty it unless I pay $150 for installation of it.

also, is there anywhere to get the hydro shield for cheaper than 25 bucks? other than ebay.
i dunno, i feel ike 25 bucks is a lot?

thats bulls*** that they wont warranty it.
my dealership didnt give me a problem bout it, i think theyre just tryin to get money outta u.
rip off.
the whole point of the mazdaspeed one is that it wont void the warranty.

Oh I know. The whole reason I'm buying the MS one and not another brand is because i'll get less hassle with it. The dealer I bought the car from isn't all that great anyways.

You guys are gonna love how the intake sounds. Even more with a BPV like the Forge.

I recently removed my Forge BPV and reinstalled the stock one. I already miss it! I'm using oil, so I am prepping my car for a dealer visit. Once the visit is over, I'm slapping that forge back on.

The MS CAI + Forge BPV = (hump)... everytime you have the window cracked and let off the boost. My childish side takes over and I find myself randomly boosting near ricer kids just to let off the gas right by their window. 27 going in 16... I know.

I should have the intake by the end of April (my birthday is the 22nd) so you bet I'll get it installed that day. I already have the Forge, so I'm really excited to see what it'll sound like.

Can you describe what it sounds like?

Can you hear the Forge through the stock intake? When I installed my Froge BPV, I was planning on buying the MS CAI already, so I removed the intake silencer out of the Drivers side fender well to to make the intake install much easier. With the stock intake minus silencer, my Forge would simply "eek" or "sqeek" when I would vent over 5psi of boost.

With the MS CAI, when it vents, it is a very sharp whoosh from 5-7psi and almost a whip-cracking sound at full boost, both followed by the same "eek" or "squeek" that it made with stock intake.

You will have to crack the driver's front window about 2" to realy hear it though. I took my MS6 up to Deal's Gap and the intake sound bouncing off the rock walls was pure heaven to me.

Mine makes a pinging sound between shifts above 2500rpm, not too loud, but noticeable inside the car.

I wish the video we took from the Dragon wasn't so darn long. I will see if I can cut out a few good seconds of the run and post it on Youtube. You can clearly hear the intake/forge combo bouncing off the rock cliffs as I pull out of the turns.

Don't feel bad. I have a few years on you, and I do the same thing. Not to ricers though, usually to someone who is looking down their nose at my Mazda (BMW drivers let's say). They probably don't know what it is, but it puts a smile on my face.

I don't blame you guys, I do the same too. I just love the sound of the MS CAI and BPV combo. Can't wait to get my Forge BPV tomorrow. Will try it on my MS6 and if it's better, it stays and CX-7 will get the TurboXS.

BTW, not to go off topic... Which spring did you guys use? I've read in various threads that the blue works the best (same as the CX-7). Thanks for the input...

Here's what mine looks right now...
