The msp has a racing beat muffler. Some of the 2003.5 MSP owners are getting theirs replaced, under warranty, with the sedan version of the muffler shown above (made by bosal).

Last i checked it sticks out about 5 inches, no pics though, I bought mine and took it straight to a muffler shop and had them remove the extra lengths

there are 2 versions of the Mazdaspeed Axel back:
one for the sedan
one for the wagon

oddly, the sedan is longer than the wagon. If you order/buy the exhaust be sure to specify one for the wagon. I have one on my P5 and it does not stick out at all. It fits in perfectly with the cut-out on the bumper.

(2thumbs)

i accidentally got the sedan ms exhaust when i first got it. it was hideous. it stuck out like 5 inches. the p5 version doesnt stick out at all.

that's the one I have.

my only qualm with it is I get a lot of HWY drone. I cruise at about 80mph (4K rpm).

you should go mow the lawn.. (hah) :D

any way I could talk one of yall into throwing up a picture of it from a little
further back?? I'd kinda like to get a idea of how much bigger the tip is than
stock.

Thanks.

its probably the only downside is the highway drone. ive had mine for almost a year, you get used to it so much that you stop noticing it.

i think the guy that posted this is talking about the axelback produced by Racing beat for the Mazda Speed protege. it has an oval tip, not a round tip.

yes it would fit on the protege5 but the bit behind the muffler canister is longer than because it was ment to stick out more because the sedan has a longer bumper and trunk. anyways you can ask a shop to chop the extra bit off and reweld the tip.

someone is selling one of these in the for sale section.

a little further back of the MAzdaSpeed PR5 exhaust you buy from the Mazda Dealer...
