Mazdaspeed 6 gas Mileage

If you're at 400km with 1/4 of a tank left in city driving I'd say that's about average fuel consumption with this car.

I averaged 27mpg on the highway 2 weeks ago.

I've noticed mine is getting worse as well. It is getting colder out, car heaters are on etc. I'm starting to worry how bad this winter is going to be for gas now. once that AWD kicks in and all 4 wheels start spinning....yikes

You will be driving slower I hope and that in itself will improve your fuel mileage. If you try to drive as much as possible out of boost (short shift) you milage will improve. I myself have seen marked improvemnts by doing just that. And dont race every jackass in a civic that pulls up beside you..:)

(peep) help

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

first four fill ups:

23 mpg
21 mpg
20 mpg
17 mpg

She seems to be running very rich judging from how black my chrome bumper guards are at the bottom.. This with only 600 miles and I scrubed them once at 250 miles.. Anyone else noticed this & couldn't it be related to my poor mileage.. I am still breaking in and have not really raced or wound her out yet..

Thanks - M (ugh)

same gas station? premium only? any mods? that would help... i get about 22 and i race around 3"turbo back and intake, bov(dont affect anything) new wheels and tires(lighter) and i have abused it from day 1. i only use top tier gas stations, and premium only

No MODS - 650 miles

All 93 octane from Murphy's/Wally World..

Seems like she may be running on the RICH side..

LATER Days..

Just took my MS6 on trip, about 350 miles each way. The car handled great especially about 85-90 range.
I got 25.5 mpg on the trip. Pretty good

I almost feel sorry for you over in yankee land. Mazda OZ and the UK are getting the Mazda 6 in the new diesel, best part about it is the fuel consumption. Try on the highway cylce of 5.1 litres!!! thats 1250Kms to a tank. (shocked) Thats close enough to 800 miles! Pity its only a manual only proposition, but then mazda dont have an auto to cope with the 360Nm torque thats on tap.

mine is still diving. Not even really cold here yet, no snow. 370kms on this tank and that light is just about to come on. that's compared to the 430 I was getting a month ago ???

6700kms on car, using 91 octane from same gas station all of the time.

Just went on a short trip. Reached speeds of well into the 100mph range at times (in passing), and cruised in the 80s.. then reached the Talamina drive, 54 miles of curves, no craziness there...then back across the same road. 25.4 mpg.
:D

Newf are you doing a lot of short trips? I've noticed this car is a real gas guzzler when doing so.

I pulled off nearly 27mpg on my last highway trip. I was averaging about 70-75mph. The car doesn't do so well in the city though. It's night and day for me gas mileage wise, as I can't seem to break 20mpg in 50% city driving. The car just eats up gas with all that low end power with high boost in the lower rpms. All in all no complaints. I get about the same as I did on my STI on highway, but a bit less on city under normal use, even though I don't have nearly the same HP. With heavy driving, it's a bit less. The long rides are much much nicer though, so no regrets here. Great daily driver with respectable gas mileage overall for it's power and weight. :)

yeah I guess I am as of late. But I've certainly gone back to watching the gas hand move. Car was like this the first few tanks.

Hello everyone. I thought I would let ya'll know that when I was buying my MS6, the salesman that I was dealing with owned one himself. He told me that changing the oil to synthetic increases performance and gas mileage. Has anyone thought of doing this? Does someone have an oil change coming up where they can try?
